Just for reference, Nelson first broached the topic of the mane of the Church in 1990. Here is a link to that Conference talk.

He’d have to wait 28 more years before his colleagues could no longer ignore him. The question for me is why Nelson lacked the courage to stand up against Hinckley and Munson when they were leading the Church astray? Why didn’t he resign his calling in protest? Basically he comes across as a corporate yes man who has now got a chance to pander to his pet whims.

Premise 1. Eyewitness testimony is notoriously unreliable.
Premise 2. The best evidence for the Book of Mormon is eyewitness testimony.
Conclusion. Therefore, the best evidence for the Book of Mormon is notoriously unreliable.

Nelson definitely seems to have way more ass kissing. Once he ascended it was like every conference talk is quoting him. I wonder if the direction of the Republican Party has helped with this shift, kiss the ass of the top guy to get the better seat. We've all heard the story about how when they meet in the temple and there is a chocolates box that the top guy gets to pick first. They say it goes by seniority, but I wonder if the counselor's sit next to the prophet and thus might be able to jump the line a bit. Though it doesn't seem to translate to a lot of Oaks ass kissing, but maybe if they demonstrate how much they are willing to kiss Nelson's ass they demonstrate how quickly and thoroughly they will switch to kissing up to him.

With more than a dozen subsequent posts, I'm a bit surprised that it does not seem anyone has opted for Elohim having done a 180, or that Monson was serving Satan by allowing the "I'm a Mormon" campaign during his last 8 years. Not even MG 2.0 worming his way into try to explain away Nelson's declarative that use of the word Mormon to refer to the LDS church or its members as somehow being inspired by a non-fickle Elohim.sock puppet wrote: ↑Sat Jan 11, 2025 8:29 pmDuring the tenure of Thomas S. Monson as the Big Dog, the I'm a Mormon campaign was started in 2010 and continued to run. When he died in 2018, new Big Dog Russell M. Nelson quickly killed that ad campaign, declaring it was a 'major victory for Satan' whenever "Mormon" was used to identify the church or a member of it. Dutifully, Mormons eschewed the title, for example Mormon Central becoming Scripture Central, and 3 Mormons became Saints Unscripted.
a) Is Elohim so fickle he turns on a dime?
b) Was Monson a knight in service of Satan like Ace Frehley?
c) Was the 2018 change just Nelson talking as a man, but the Mormons bent their knees and confessed their sin of using 'Mormon' anyway?
This still sticks in my craw, even as a FoMo. For 8 years, there was a full-throated endorsement of the nickname Mormon, to then on the death of one and ascension of another, an about-face, 180 degree turn to being hypertechnical. Is this part and parcel of Elohim's mysterious ways?

"Mormon"™ is a cool word. It's hip. It's jivey. It's like a cool haircut. Or funky shoes. I like being a "Mormon"™. I like being called a "Mormon"™. I like that I like it. It tastes good. It's a good nickname, and it's good doctrine to keep on using the name. If it was good enough for Nephi and Jesus, it's good enough for me. Any apostles or prophets who come after me will be proven to be lyin' stinkin' liars if they hate the word "Mormon"™. "Mormon"™ is a good nickname. It means "more good." Why would anyone be ashamed of that, for Korihor's sake?!! I'm comfortable with that. You should be too. Be a proud "Mormon"™. I'm sorry, Gordo, I'm so so sorry. I'm trying so hard to repent, but I don't know to do it, since I've never tried it before --Rusty, current pretend prophet, seer and revelator™ who is almost dead
