Thanks for your story. It's a very moving description of what happened. When you were on FAIR, I was really sad that you were ending your journey through Mormonism, but it seems to me you've grown through that experience, and I'm happy for you.

GIMR, I know that avatar is from that play you like. At first glance, she reminded me of Dame Edna. Dame Edna was such a madcap lady.

Another casualty of the parable of the sower......

The single men who would talk to the white woman next to me, but not even meet my gaze half the time. Some of these guys weren't even white! But they weren't black, either.

The fact that my "sistas" in the ward never dated LDS men, and had to look outside the church for love. The few that I know that are still active STILL DO...yet they hang on in misery dreaming of that temple marriage.

The "skins of blackness" passages in the Book of Mormon, that I remember trying to justify with friends of color who were LDS.

I'm married now, but in my single days I might have asked you out you had we met. I dated several women who had 'black' skin back then. Skin color has never been an issue for me.

Not to mention all that I came across on the internet...including people on ldslinkup.com trying to justify the use of the word "n*gger", just because they'd heard some black people use it. Well I don't, and if you call me that you will get punched. Seriously.

The era of political correctness and the chip carried on the shoulders of many urbanized American 'blacks' exacerbated by racist organizations such as the NAACP is the root of this problem. Had a missionary companion from Kenya who made the same assessment as we served together. For 'whites', the only thing that can be done is to treat 'blacks' the same as you would treat anyone else unless they pull the race card and then you should ignore them until they come to their senses.

Not to mention all that I came across on the internet...including people on ldslinkup.com trying to justify the use of the word "n*gger", just because they'd heard some black people use it.

Though I personally refrain from using that word, it's a perfectly reasonable justification and hypocritical to argue against it if you feel only a certain culture is allowed to say it and nobody else should.

Well I don't, and if you call me that you will get punched. Seriously.

If I heard someone of your skin color casually using that word in reference to you and you accepted it, and I then happened to use that same word to reference you in the same manner and you punched me, I would not hesitate to punch you back and call you a hypocrite.

We need more people who can go the whole day without thinking about skin color. At last, the rising generation seems to be able to do this. The older generations need to let go.

BC Space you missed the whole point, of course in your apologetic attempt to discredit me.

Not all blacks have a chip on their shoulder, I don't. And if your reading comprehension were a bit better, you would have read that. I forced myself not to see myself as a black person for a long time, simply because people wanted to focus on my color in my youth, both blacks and whites.

But I'm not going to repeat myself. You are a FAIR veteran, and comprehension skills over there are severely lacking.

If you punched me back, I'd just have to whoop your ass. Sorry, but that's as far as I'm going to engage someone like you who belongs to a church that still upholds the curse of cain doctrine as true, not to mention blaming all that has happened as far as race relations in this country over the past 50 years on things like affirmative action and the NAACP.

You will find most people on this board miss the points entirely...
Then they holler and scream that we are offending them here because this is a religious board???

Then again many of us here understand your points and .....simply with one word or sentence we understand
and that is nice...
When I wake up I will be hungry....but this feels so good right now aaahhhhhh........

Our TBM FAIR transplants have the uncanny ability to read selectively. TBMs in general, man...they will pick from your posts whatever they want.

And I repeated myself with TBMs for a long time. I don't have the patience right now.

The fact that BCSpace wanted to paint me as the sterotypical thug who thinks all white people hate her is indicative of his/her ignorance. I may be related to people like that, but that is hardly me. I see color, but that's simply part of my upbringing. It does not determine whether I will love or befriend you, or even help you if in need. Those types of things require simply a heart.

And yeah, I'm sure our FAIR-ites, despite their fundamentalist leanings are sooooo progressive.

If BCSpace were in my old ward, he would have walked on by just like all the others. But perhaps an independent, intelligent, beautiful black woman, who is not prepared to take a back seat and a baby to some weak-ass Mormon man who needs authority from God to rule his home, is a bit frightening.

One last comment on BCSpace's cognitive rediculosity:

I'm sure every TBM FAIR-ite, and most TBMs in general claim to know someone who married a black person. A friend of a friend of a friend of a friend of a friend of a friend...and through that six degrees of separation, they probabaly all know the same person.

Fact is, the church has a racist past, just like most every other Christian church in this country. But the LDS church has swept the mass of bovine fecal matter that they amassed trying to defend their actions under the rug, and that bump is not going to disintegrate with time. Plain and simple.

BCSpace, you can see my other thread on this issue, and tell me other than your bogus "as far as it's correctly translated" doctrine why the Bible doesn't back your church's stance on the ban. Use the quotes the author used, don't go trying to twist scripture futher.

And also, who the hell are you to think you have the right to call me a n*gger and get away with it because some random black person other than me uses the word? I thought taking hallucinatory substances was against the WoW.

Hi BcSpace, you say;
We need more people who can go the whole day without thinking about skin color. At last, the rising generation seems to be able to do this. The older generations need to let go. (Bold added)

That is an excellent statement, congrats!! I agree, and apply that sentiment to so many other things that tend to knot-up the old-folks. Here we might split a bit, but things like homosexuality, women as GAs, non-LDS in marrige sealing services, full disclosure...

Time and intelligence works wonders with ignorance, prejudice and superstition. Warm regards, Roger

I missed no point and attempted no discreditation

Not all blacks have a chip on their shoulder, I don't.

I never implied otherwise.....

I forced myself not to see myself as a black person for a long time, simply because people wanted to focus on my color in my youth, both blacks and whites.

As I said, parable of the sower. Your sinking back to racist attitudes are the same that prevent peace and harmony on this issue.

But I'm not going to repeat myself. You are a FAIR veteran, and comprehension skills over there are severely lacking.

So total acceptance of non Christian values equates to comprehension for you? LOL!

If you punched me back, I'd just have to whoop your ass.

I was wrong. You ARE one of the ones with a chip on your shoulder....

Sorry, but that's as far as I'm going to engage someone like you who belongs to a church that still upholds the curse of cain doctrine as true,

The curse of Cain was not black skin. Try again.

not to mention blaming all that has happened as far as race relations in this country over the past 50 years on things like affirmative action and the NAACP.

To use one's skin color as a basis for merit is racist. Therefore, the NAACP is a racist oprganization and affirmative action is a racist policy.

Dude, find another planet to live on.

Fine. But I won't be taking you as one of my wives....LOL! ;)
