I think the mention of being able to do whatever they like is usually trotted out each time BYU does something of a newsworthy negative nature. As a fellow banished poster, I would say to the puppets, welcome to the club of FAIR/MAD refugees.
I wonder in the future if the MAD moderators will concentrate more on their purity of essence and protecting their precious bodily fluids? Thy can you know, since they are private.

Hi Mister Scratch,

Obviously, they have the Pundits Forum, which is meant to help with keeping the really sensitive material away from prying eyes, but if they truly want to accomplish this, my sense is that they are going to need to go fully private.

I used to think that would happen - i said it a few times back on KG's board. But now that they're unaffiliated with FAIR, I doubt it.
I do think though that the more interesting/controversial threads will be moved with more frequency to the Pundit forum.

Doesn't work like that. They're not going to remove threads started in LDS Discussions to let Pundits alone debate it. Who says they will even want to debate it? Only Pundits can start new threads in the Pundit forum, or ask for threads from the main froum to be moved to Pundit. That's how I understand it.

Why was I made a pundit? I'm not sure I even understand the entire concept.
In regards to this current slate of bannings: are they possibly just targeting posters active on this board?

We hate to seem like we don’t trust every nut with a story, but there’s evidence we can point to, and dance while shouting taunting phrases.

Sure they can do that. Isn't that what just happened?
It also happened with the KEP.
The mods and Juliann can do whatever they like.

Here's my speculation. Well first you usually have to be a Pundit to post in that forum. I'm not aware if there are exceptions, but I haven't seen any, though I seldom read the Pundit forum. I think too your expertise in the Book of Mormon archaeology may also lead to some more debates with Brant. The essential idea of the forum is to protect the Pundits from commentary which distracts the debate being engaged by those who know what they're talking about. And in your and Brant's case - Book of Mormon archaeology, as with The Dude and David Stewart on geography.

That's true, they can pretty much do what they like. But the thread was started by Juliann, and she's a Pundit (and possibly a mod, I don't know), so she can ask for it to be moved. There are only seven threads in Pundit (except for the removed Metcalfe/Hauglid one and the one started by Kevin, as far as I can see), and it's hardly used, and slow moving. It wouldn't make sense to chuck every controversial thread in there. It would just get cluttered, and that's not the purpose of the forum.

The Pundits Forum is a little more sinister than that, Ray.
To accomplish any of the goals you listed, all they'd have to do is restrict the ability to post to only certain people.
But they've gone one step further: They also restrict the ability to even view the forum to only registered members. Which means if they don't want you to see the discussions there, they just ban you.
