Really? Read my exchange with him, he didn't answer a single question. And they werent exactly difficult ones.

I *did* answer your questions, Gaz---you just didn't like my answers. Face it: you want to reconcile the apparent contradiction between faith and material reality. You want matters of faith to be physically real in ways that just aren't possible, I'm afraid.

And now as I said concerning faith - faith is not to have a perfect knowledge of things; therefore if ye have faith ye hope for things which are not seen, which are true.
Scratch, you haven't proffesed a belief in anything! All you have done is a silly dance with words. I asked you to give a simple commentary on a few verses in the New Testament concerning the physical ressurection and you couldent even do that, becasue to do so you would have to make a stand on a principle. Because your testimony is weak as water, you are obviously incapable.
The next time you want to critique a fellow poster remember the old addage to first pluck the beam from your own eye before worrying about someone elses splinters.

Our own Mr. Scratch took home a medal this weekend for his Blog at the MAD extravaganza. Read more at the link above.
I'll admit, I can't resist those threads over on MAD. It seems that most participants don't get the irony of calling this board the "obsession" board, when some of them apparently can't keep their peepers off of it.
One thing that's starting to wear on my nerves, though: the use of quotes from this board in sig lines. It's become ubiquitous and has lost any sense of novelty or bite. I think "petty" might be a fitting descriptor.
And yeah - I like how the thread managed to last a few pages before being shut down. "Oops", I guess?

skippy,
In all FAIRness, many people on this board also watch MAD and use quotes from MADites in their sig lines here. I agree with you that MAD has lost it's sense of novelty and/or bite...and suffers from a serious lack of humor.

Being able to rummage through posts and point out contradictions and hypocrisies is quite a gift, and those Chinese boat spoons can hold a lot of soup.
How does he manage to garner an award?
I have always thought more people in life deserve awards and recognition. Have you ever been to a Special Olympics awards ceremony? They have the right idea how to do it: Give them out generously and add a big hug!

Oh - I totally get that many of the folks here use various MAD quotes in their sig lines. I have no complaint about that, since I don't see those people pretending that MAD is too obscene and profane to frequent. Add to that the fact that the PTB here don't close MAD related threads, but rather allow full and free discussion, and the situations seem much different to me. In fact, the free discussion allowed here makes a world of difference - for instance, if you put one of my quotes in your sig line (hopefully it would be something brilliant!), and I wasn't happy about it, I could totally open up a thread to call you on it, if I so desired. In the MAD world, not only are most of the people quoted banned from the boards, there would be no open discussion allowed. I dunno - does that make sense?

After all, Dr. Shades does not hold this board out to be sacred or secret. We have no qualms about discussing MAD, as a matter of fact it is a popular topic.
I suspect they are afraid of encouraging their participants to see this board and learning for themselves about freedom from over-moderation. Ironically, Sput himself would flourish better in this atmosphere.
Speaking of a loss of freedom, the supposed "muzzling" at MAD may inadvertantly limit and negatively affect things here as well. Many of the folks here will be somewhat prevented from gossiping about what MADsters have gossiped about MDsters, and will be left with just the same old obsessive gossiping and woe-mongering about MADsters. ;-)

Right you are Wade. How can we possibly comment on items that they discuss if they are unable to discuss them? It will exacerbate our obsession to the degree that you will need to step in with the analysts couch and shrink our heads so that we may once again function semi-normally in society. Feel up to that task?

You haven'te "proffesed" a "belief," either, Gaz. You have instead insisted that matters of faith are "real" in a material sense. That just doesn't hold up, in my opinion.
All you have done is a silly dance with words.
All you have shown is a stubborn unwillingness to give my views half a second of consideration.
