I have no intention of revisiting the AGW thread with you, as you very clearly do not understand the issues involved there, are quite simply not informed on the relevant problems with the AGW theory, and are Old Testament willing to do the homework to become a serious participant in a debate on that subject.

The plethora of sources, reports, and essays I posted and linked to supported my position entirely but indeed, devastated your own position, based as it is upon long discredited Marxian fantasies regarding economic and social dynamics.

Your claims regarding Old Testament environmentalism are a riot Fort, an absolute riot. But the obvious here is so clearly well over your head that I shall not bother myself with the effort at pointing out in detail the utter irrelevance of your quoted material to the modern environmental movement.

This sentence isn't as florid as your usual style. I'd work on it a little more. You need more polysyllaby for a start, and about three times more superlatives.

The plethora of sources, reports, and essays I posted and linked to supported my position entirely but indeed, devastated your own position, based as it is upon long discredited Marxian fantasies regarding economic and social dynamics.

This is a little better, but still falls far short of your other posts in this thread. I hope you're not dropping your standards.

By the way, what is my 'own position', by the way? Could you summarise it in a few short paragraphs, and quote from me directly? Could you possibly explain how this 'position' is based on 'long discredited Marxian fantasies regarding economic and social dynamics'?

Your claims regarding Old Testament environmentalism are a riot Fort, an absolute riot.

Exactly what claims have I made regarding Old Testament environmentalism? Could you list them please?

But the obvious here is so clearly well over your head that I shall not bother myself with the effort at pointing out in detail the utter irrelevance of your quoted material to the modern environmental movement.

This is just polemic, and isn't even as bombastic as you usually are. I'm disappointed by this limpwristed ending to what could have been a real Coggins firebreather of a post. Would you like to try again?

It appears that you are stating dogmatically that the Judeo-Christian environmentalist tradition, as contained in the Bible and developed by later commentators, has no relevance at all to the modern environmental movement. Is that your position?

The dictionary you looked up "tendentious" in forgot to warn you, Coggins, that you only get to use it once per post.
Mormonism ceased being a compelling topic for me when I finally came to terms with its transformation from a personality cult into a combination of a real estate company, a SuperPac, and Westboro Baptist Church. - Kishkumen

Cogs, you seem to be running low on inspiration for your posts recently, so I've compiled a few useful phrases for you:

* arguments left festering in the mire of his own ignorance

* enmired by the grotesques of his fantasizing

* delusional aggrandized posturing

* bombastic pleonasm

* foul shrieking

* enmaddened howls of impotent fury

* raving bestially

* reduced to wallowing hideously amidst the torpid miasma of his speculations

* gibbering hoots of frustrated rage in lieu of reasoned response

* fearlessly uncover the black stinking roots of their loathsome and malice ridden hate

I'll post some more when I think of them. I recommend reading some HP Lovecraft to get you going.

It will be interesting to observe this forum continue to degenerate, intellectually and morally, over the coming months and years, as the same ignorant, fatuous psychobabble and tendentious calumny (in lieu, as always, of serious, civil debate), continues unabated.

Then why do you post here?

I'm not saying this to drive you away. I'm just genuinely curious. If I felt that strongly about a message board, I would stay away from it, not continue to post there.

LOL. Nothing upsets a Mormon more than showing them their own teachings out of their own literature.

And posts like this one are contributing to serious, civil debate how . . . ?
God . . . "who mouths morals to other people and has none himself; who frowns upon crimes, yet commits them all; who created man without invitation, . . . and finally, with altogether divine obtuseness, invites this poor, abused slave to worship him ..."

So true. I, for one, would be extremely interested in seeing Loran try to defend this fun little bit of LDS agitprop.

uh, wtf Coggins. I know I'm new here, but wtf?

I LOVED seeing the scans of that pamphlet. It was a trip down memory lane! It must have been in circulation for several years, too, because I think I saw it 1970. I remember dying with laughter! Even in '65 it's cultural references were out of date. I'm not sure the wearing of curlers outside the home was ever much of a trend in Utah (I certainly know it was in Baltimore, heh), and that was only one of the things that killed me in Seminary. "Spaghetti straps?" OMG! "The Church" is setting itself up as a snarky Mr. Blackwell-esque fashion maven? I still don't think I've read that term anywhere else in my life (and let me say here, that among other things I write for fashion magazines and am closely connected to the biz as you can get without being in it--translation: I get tickets for Marc Jacobs).

Though by no means the most meaningful problem I had with Mormonism (racism, sexism, at the lack of belief in God are higher on the list) that pamphlet still played a singular role in my "apostacy" (at least by some definitions I am an apostate..). Some guys in badly pressed polyester suits were deigning to judge my style? NO way, girlfriend (oh, perhaps I need to point out here that I am a biological female. Just corrupted from years of close encounters with the "other" team. The Sun saved my life. That bar extended more charity, mercy and decency towards me than any Bishop ever did).

also

"discredited marxian fantasies"...sweetie, only in the think tanks of reactionary Amerikkka is marxism "discredited." I'm sorry your education was so shallow (and I speak as a tenured professor with 20+ years teaching in the USA)...but there's still time for you to catch up to the level of any European? Mexican? African? undergraduate.
