No, I don't believe "all the evidence is in." What is in makes it highly unlikely that the Book of Mormon is what it says it is (and besides, just going by the text it's pretty obviously not an ancient document). But charity could be right, so I'm "openminded." Either way, I've never heard an exmo or critic say that all the evidence is in.

No, I never believed that everything that came from the mouth of a prophet was from God. I do, however, hold prophets accountable for things like scriptures and First Presidency statements, which ought to have some authority.

And finally, the last thing I want is to be guided in every little thing.

Honestly, these stereotypes are silly.

All the evidence is in as far as whether or not the Book of Mormon is fiction. In otherwords I have no doubt in my mind. So now you've read a critic who says it. But I don't operate in how I think that anything is ever an absolute truth. I'm always willing to look at evidence. So unless new evidence is presented, for operational purposes I treat the Book of Mormon as fiction.

Edward Debono discusses the concept of discarding absolute truths. He calls operational truths.. proto-truth. see link.

Well, yes, at this point I operate under a well-founded assumption that it's fictional. But like you, I'm always open for new evidence.
