Everyone should be so blessed to have their dental work torn out in order to finance yet another McTemple. Sure gives me the "warm fuzzies".

Gold-Filling Faust

Post by _rain-mom »

You've apparently never listened to his "talk" about those faithful converts in Argentina who had their gold fillings removed from their teeth in order to help finance the building of the San Paulo, Brazil temple.

He even bragged about how he paid more than top dollar for the fillings so the new saints could feel like they were really contributing to the "Lord's Work", since their gold fillings were all they had that were worth anything, monetarily. This isn't "new" news, however it is disgusting!

I'd bet Faust's fillings are all modern, porcelain, white & delightsome fillings.

I go out of my way to never listen to talks at all. I vaguely remember a thread about this here, but maybe it was something else entirely.

Faust's gold fillings

I also avoid "talks from the Lord's annointed" as they are BORING and nothing new under the sun is ever covered.

LDSChurchTemples.com proudly discusses Mr. Faust's twisted views on devotion however.

rain-mom--

You are absolutely right. I ran a thread about this some time ago. The story goes that Pres. Faust was "praising" these local people who, apparently, had forked over the gold fillings from their teeth in order to help finance the Porto Allegre Temple. I found his frothing over this to be quite appalling. You really have to wonder what kind of force drove these people to such measures. I also find myself wondering why the Church didn't compensate them, or help them out in some way.

Faust's gold fillings

My feeling has always been that the 'church' should tear down a temple, sell anything worth ANYTHING, and donate the $$ to help impoverished people improve their dental work, or anything else they may need.

For the longest time I thought those kinds of ideas came from lessons learned at church. I realize now that those values were instilled in me by my inactive, jack-mormon parents. These values also included, honesty, generosity and empathy. I suppose neither they, nor I, will be seeing Jesus or our deceased loved ones, since none of us ever participated in the essential sealings or tithe-paying. Nor did we donate any of our gold fillings to the Lord's work. Go figure!

I really don't like to speak ill of the dead, especially since my 7 year old daughter and darling TBM husband passed away recently, but then HE actually had his priorities straight and would have, and did, give anything he could to the needy.

Rain mom. I'm so terribly sorry for the loss of your husband and daughter.

Welcome to the board and I hope we hear a lot more from you.

Thanks for the welcome and sympathy!

Thanks much. I've been lurking for some time; finally decided to post because Faust has disgusted me for so long now, even if he was a Democrat. I didn't know the, uhm, prophets were allowed to be Democrats, LOL.

BOTH of them passed away? Oh man, I am SORRY to hear that! Forgive me, but I'm not too good at this sort of thing and never know the right thing to say.

I hope it's not too crass to speak ill of President Faust, but I have one (and only one) "experience" to share about him. He came and spoke to all of us when I was in the MTC. I was singularly unimpressed, let me tell you--and I was as TBM as they come back then!

I was expecting something hugely uplifting, but instead he just had us look up scripture after scripture and told us to mark them. WTF??

(Well, I suppose that had I been a better missionary, I would've viewed looking up scriptures as hugely uplifting in and of itself, but I guess I expected a little more than a presentation that any Tom, Dick, & Harry could've given.)
