Don't you just love these right wing hypocrites who loathe organizations like the ADL and ACLU until they need their services?
We hate to seem like we don’t trust every nut with a story, but there’s evidence we can point to, and dance while shouting taunting phrases.

Maybe Hammer wrote in and told them he was a Jew--remember where he claimed he was a Jew of the 21st century?

Is LDS obsessing over actors any worse than the OP's obsession with collecting lengthy archives of every misstep every LDS believer makes on multiple message boards?

Or any worse that some apologist's obsession with RFM posts, even to the point of writing an essay about it, utilizing cherry-picked posts collected from RFM?

True, we're all pretty much bastards. Can we all just accept that and move on? :)

I heard Sean Hannity announce today that Jon Voight will be participating in his last "Freedom Tour" in September.
Even Sean Hannity knows who Jon Voight is. Now let me ask the question, how much credibility does that lend to Voight's opinion concerning MMM (and the believability of his charactor in the movie?).
I seriously don't think Hannity is aware of the film. What are the odds of Voight becoming "un-invited"?

I like John Voight myself, well, I like his acting. I've never met him or read anything about his personal life. I enjoyed him in the movie Conrack, he was also pretty good in Runaway Train.
That aside, this movie is a blatant attack on the church. During the Utah War Brigham had a standing order to not kill, and the entire time the plan was to merely harass the enemy as much as possible. Burn the supply lines, take the cattle, etc....
There were plenty of opportunities to attack and kill all the soldiers they wanted, but that didn't happen. Why would they pass on all of the other opportunites they had, but slaughter the Fancher party? "Buffalo Bill" Cody (who was 11 or 12 at the time and in the area) and analyst/historian Henry Inman state ".... it was proved that the Mormon Church had nothing to do with the massacre; that Lee in fact, had acted in direct opposition to the officers of the Church."
One diarist, Murray Averett records, "After moving to Washington, Utah Ma became aquainted with some of the wives of men that ws in that affair and she thinks, or did think, it was done for robbery. John D. Lee's wives and those of Hate and Higbee had silk dresses and fine carpets and beddign for years after the crime was done."
But the Church as a whole gets the blame despite the evidence anyway.

This board and several others seem full of them.....I do find it strangely ironic that the discussion of religion is tame compared to the discussion of the X-Box 360 vs the PS3 on some boards and discussion of the talent of some bands on other boards. Kinda ironic if you think about it.
