Thanks for the Synopsis Trinity. Very eloquently written. ( I hope there were no exagarations in "ahh's uhhh's,
ohh's though) I think DCP'S talks or essays resemble mostly filibusters (at the end you come out & ask; what the hell
was that talk about anyway). No doubt, he is a very nice, amicable chap.
Believe you me. Otherwise he would not have prayer on getting along with those moslems.
As I recall growing up amongst them, being an infidel, I was a prick and I didn't belong to their country.
(I was a hated Christian minority).
Anyway mingling among those oversized ego Islams requires a certain skill, which is called kissing ass. (most of them really think they have the biggest dicks)
I don't have any word to describe Mohammed, but his followers did sure a good job of cleaning Christian menace. It is funny, this man
is revered today by people like DCP. (I wonder why).
Anyway, thanks for the informative post.

It's absolutely hilarious!
It reminds me of a TV show I thought of once for a religious audience: Junkyard Apologetics Mega-Wars. Apologists from freaky religions like Scientology, JW's, Mormons, etc., meet to put together scraps of odd archaeological finds, ancient texts, Sci-Fi books, Oprah reruns - anything to prove their respective religions true. A little chiasmus here, an NHM there, and voilà! The Church is TRUE!
Thanks for your synopsis, Trinity! You took one for the team by attending the lecture and we thank you!

Kim, This is just part of LDS theology. Mormon's will readily admit that EVERY religion, culture or cult have some eternal "Truths" that were given to them by God (limited as it may be). It is their duty to seek out those truths and then point out how those truths have been restored by Joseph Smith and incorporated in the LDS faith. Therefore, those people should now come and join with the the LDS people (the collective) and become part of the MBORG (Mormon borg as in Star Trek).

Now if DP can only find something in Muslim writings the would show Muhammid predicted the future coming of Joseph Smith then the tie in would be complete.

Didn't Mohammed forsee a lying horndog in the future at some point.....wasn't that in the Koran somewhere?

It never ceases to amaze me how LDS critics will attend lectures by people who they believe are liars and sift them to find even the tiniest tidbit they can spin to lend credence to that apologist being a dunce.
"Surely he knows that DCP, The Nehor, Lamanite, and other key apologists..." -Scratch clarifying my status in apologetics "I admit it; I'm a petty, petty man." -Some Schmo

I don't believe DCP to be a liar; I never have. Deluded, yes, liar, no.
Has Trinity ever accused the good Dr. to be a liar?
I hardly see that they are straining at the "tiniest tidbits" here; rather Trinity offered a reasonably comprehensive overview of the good Dr.'s main rhetorical thrusts.
DCP makes himself a target, both by his high visibility and his bombast. He also claims to be "in tight" with the powers that be in the COB. Why are you surprised some critics take interest in what he has to say?
God . . . "who mouths morals to other people and has none himself; who frowns upon crimes, yet commits them all; who created man without invitation, . . . and finally, with altogether divine obtuseness, invites this poor, abused slave to worship him ..."

kind of like the last 10 September dawn MMM threads over at MA&D -- kinda like that ??
