No, I think the hierarchy is playing their cards correctly. You can't just come out and call Evil Good and Good Evil (this is why I have such disdain for apologists). You have to get someone so invested into the program that they would feel like I do when I found out about the filth.
I have a very difficult descision to make:
Will I call a spade a spade and leave with my principles? This is what I have a potential of losing:
My spouse - and if this is result, much of a lifetime's worth of treasure
Some of our children (and their friends/relationships)
A place at the head table - tenure & status. A lifetimes worth of work/sacrifice developing respect and honor in the church (like I care, but the temptation is set before me)
Some of our friends - peer group, a sense of society
Extended family relations
Som of my jobs/clients
A heartfelt loss - loneliness
I have to admit I was wrong too.
I'm gearing up to be humiliated, tarred and feathered.
The fact of the matter is that I think the hierarchy is counting on me caving and overlooking the abominations in order to preserve what I value most on many levels.
A 19 year old just doesn't have much to hold himself to the church if he is privy to the truth of the matter. By nature, they are an adventurous lot. As we get older and take on greater responsibilities we seek out stability and security. That's enough to keep most of us in lock-step, don't you think?

Hi Inconceivable: Thanks for your imput. The 19 or 45 thing is what I posted on the FAIR board. I don't know if you saw it there. I said that 45 year olds would make better missionaries. I said that the family should prepare finacially for the Dad to leave for a year or two. Everyone on the FAIR board voted thumbs down. I think things are rough on me but I guess we all have to negotiate how to address things in life. Maybe a class action lawsuit seeking repayment for tithing would be a way for the church to be up front with the not so adoring history.

45 year old missionaries
Yeah. Without the incentive of having God blessed sex with 16-22 year old vixens I don't believe you could talk too many 45 year old Mormons into 2+ years of celebacy. That would be quite a carrot. It was probably a great program back in the day - for the filthy old men going through their mid-life crisis'. (now where is my barf bag? oop, it's full)
FAIR
So far as (not) FAIR, I don't bother reading or posting. My mind just hasn't the capacity to function on reverse polarity (that good-evil, evil-good thing). Seems like they're humpty dumpty broken. I don't like to hang around drunk people either. I just don't have enough in common with both groups in general.
Class Action Lawsuit
I don't think the time is far off when a CAL would be feasable. I was deceived into believing bald faced lies. I would very much like to have the treasure they bilked from me returned with interest.
