I think you may need to explain to readers why the MADB links don't work, and how to make them work.

I'll keep an eye out for that, Ray, although as of this morning they were working. They only stop working if the MAD mods disable links from a specific site they don't like. (like here or RFM). They may eventually do that to my site, but right now it looks ok.

Wow! What a great little index, thanks for putting this together! It’s not surprising that the critics’ arguments have held up better than the apologists, is it!

Also, it shouldn’t be surprising that your links to MAD are now blocked.

Hi Beastie...

I'm thinking your site is such a fabulous resource we should somehow get the word out to other LDS sites that may find it interesting and helpful.

Looks like they did it. I can't link directly.

Heh. Way to encourage dialogue and discussion by blocking links from your site. Of course, did anyone expect otherwise?

Oh, geez, I forgot that I fixed my browser so I can link directly to MAD, circumventing their block. That's why it's been working for me. I'm somewhat surprised and taken aback that they blocked links from my site so quickly. I thought they just blocked links from from boards that engage in "board wars" type of thing. They block links from any site that is critical? That strikes me strange and scientologistic.

(ps, yes, EA, you did TOTALLY bust Brant on that one, and it made me laugh all over again when I reviewed it.)

I tried to use the tinyurl site to create links to them from here, but that didn't work either. I'm wondering if they've just blocked all off-site links? But then Google wouldn't work, so I guess that can't be it.

Easy enough to work around, if you use Firefox (which everybody should!). Just enter about:config in your address bar, then filter for network.http.sendReferrerHeader and set the value to 0. This turns off the header referring function, so that a site you navigate to via a link does not know where you originated from (i.e., if you click on a MAD link here, MAD doesn't know you're coming from this board so it doesn't give you the stoopid message). In general, there's no reason to identify where you come from when surfing the internets.
