Re: Calling Thayne, Can I Help With NOM?
I just realized I have Dathon's phone number from a couple of years ago. I'm not sure if it's still valid but I dropped him a text. We'll see what happens.

Awesome! I searched and couldn't find his or Thayne's email addresses from years ago when I was in contact with them. I'm so glad you have a contact for Dathon! I hope he responds...let us know!

Au contraire, it would be best for all of them to come here.

Re: Calling Thayne, Can I Help With NOM?
I've heard from Dathon.
He says that he's not directly involved in the day-to-day workings of NOM any more, and that he thought Thayne was working on a problem with the hosting company - perhaps looking for a new host / server.
He has emailed Thayne asking him if he wants to turn over the reins to someone else, or if he can get the matter of a host resolved.
If I hear any more I'll add another reply to the thread.

I've also sent a message to Thayne via email & Facebook with a link to this thread.

Good Point. They should come here. They certainly could benefit from a different moderating experience.
I called Thayne as well and have not heard back. If Dathon can't get some traction it is unlikely that anyone else will.
Thayne has made comments in the past that would make one believe he could and would just take his proprietary little piece of the internet and shut it off to everyone. Yes. That's not at all a new or surprising outcome. It may not have been intentional but it was never something ruled out as a possibility.

"Rocks don't speak for themselves" is an unfortunate phrase to use in defense of a book produced by a rock actually 'speaking' for itself... (I have a Question, 5.15.15)

Re: Calling Thayne, Can I Help With NOM?
Thanks for everyone's efforts to get a hold of Thayne or Dathon.
I would love it if all the posters from NOM would come over here and post! There were some great discussions and some really high caliber members there.
If it's a matter of funding or having someone with technical knowledge, I'd imagine there are many who would help and contribute to get the board back up and running.
I just hope it's not all been lost (the history and posts on NOM) because there were some pretty incredible threads that I'd still look up for reference and quotes (especially the ones involving George Miller or John Hamer).

Re: Calling Thayne, Can I Help With NOM?
I was mostly lurking as of late, but I was SBClosetMom at NOM. I am so sad that it disappeared! What are we all supposed to do next weekend? The GC threads were epic. I am relieved to have seen many familiar posters here in the last few weeks, can someone contact Corsair and Red Ryder and some others ask them to join us on Mormon Discussions??? Please.
I posted this am on the reddit thread that says something like "NOM site is down!" and asked NOMs to meet back up here.

Re: Calling Thayne, Can I Help With NOM?
I realized that I have Dathon's phone number so I dropped him a text and he called me back this morning. He is waiting to hear back from Thayne but gave me his email address so I also dropped him a note. It seems like there are enough of us poking around that we should be able to get some solid information from Thayne at some point.
Dathon seemed to think NOM would be returning. As far as passing the keys on to someone else, his main concern was that the original mission of NOM is preserved and that it doesn't just become another exmormon ranting site, considering that the tone has changed a bit in that direction over the past year or two.
Anyway, he's a great guy and it was nice to talk to him.
