Ah yes. I'd forgotten. There was indeed the matter of that young man. Very sad. Well, believe me, the young man hadn't told the stake president anything. He couldn't have. And Quinn hadn't, either. No confidentiality had been breached. It was a public matter, well known to the community.

You already made it quite clear that you didn't want to engage Scratch anymore. You have also implied that you believe Rollo and Scratch to be the same poster.

If you honestly don't want to engage Scratch, then why top the thread? He was the initiator of the thread to begin with.

It seems like you're continuing to taunt him, even after you made it clear that you didn't want to engage him further.

You have repeatedly given your side of things. It's not going to change.

Whatever Dr. Peterson's reason(s), I am pleased to see participants here becoming more sensitized to, and speaking out against, gossip and smear campaigns, even if, in this case it is wildly misdirected (at least as I see it), and even if the case in question palls considerably in comparison to much of what occurs in that regard on this board (particularly the smear campaign waged against Dr. Peterson on this an other threads). At least it gives a shadow of hope that on the off-chance that minds here may be turned to honest and thorough introspection and self-criticism, work will commence on removing the beams from our respective eyes.

I won't be engaging Scratch Senior. I won't be paying much attention to Junior, either. But I don't get the same creepy vibes from him that I do from his master.

Let me break it down for you, Liz. DCP has gotten his butt kicked by me so many times that, at last, he had to invent this paranoid excuse about why he won't "engage" my posts any more. (And let the record show that he has been unable to resist responding to me anyhow.) He didn't say, "Well, I'm sick of you Scratch, so that's it." Nor did he say, "Talking to you is a waste of time, so that's it." No---instead, he claims to be actually threatened by my posts. Now, honestly, I don't really know if he is serious here. After all, I have watched him ridicule Steve Benson, and Martha Beck, and countless other ex-Mormons who claimed to fear for their lives after having left the Church. Martha Beck said she got a phone call from some creep who said he wanted to "dismember" her. And, while I have never said anything even remotely like that to the Good Professor, he nonetheless says he gets a "creepy vibe."

If this is true, then I really, honestly hope that he feels guilty about all those times that he laughed at those ex-Mormons who felt threatened by the Church. He spent a lot of time laughing at these people with his fellow Mopologists, and, in his capacity as editor of the FARMS Review, he functioned in an official capacity in smearing them, and making light of their fear. I hope he sees the hypocrisy of this. Or, perhaps he was just joking/lying.
