Ray A wrote:An anti-Mormon is someone obsessed with criticising Mormonism, or individual Mormons. Someone who has a "churning in the gut" at anything Mormon. For example, the criticisms of Dan Peterson, and Juliann, on this board, are obsessive. Have the critics heard of "live and let live"? Why not give it a break, eh?
Hi Ray. Maybe, in some people's views, criticizing people is not cool. But, to say that criticizing Julianne is an example of anti-Mormonism, is, well...a little over the top. Perhaps it should be given a break for other reasons, but not because it is anti-Mormonism. I wouldn't give Juliann that much credit.

I don't see the point in making it personal, but I agree that disliking someone's posting style does not make one anti-Mormon.

I think you are right, gramps. But the criticism of individuals is obsessive.
Pehaps this is the key to lightning up:
Americans: Seem to think that poverty and failure are morally suspect. Canadians: Seem to believe that wealth and success are morally suspect. Brits: Seem to believe that wealth, poverty, success, and failure are inherited. Aussies: Seem to think that none of this matters after several beers.

Life is short: Enjoy it.
Loved it! Maybe I should move to Australia. I think I would fit right in.

I see Elder Nelson concluding by making the comment:
"Church leaders have consistently appealed to the fairness of readers and urged them to examine the Book of Mormon and other latter-day scriptures and records for themselves rather than to prejudge the Church based on anti-Mormon publications. "
which give members "ammunition" against so-called anti-mormonism...but I'm finding it difficult to find counsel from church leaders specifically admonishing members to "stay away from anti material". It may be there, but I don't know that I've seen it.
In regards to online use I've heard them counsel against online pornography, but that's about it.

About what is he talking?
Is an anti-Mormon publication anything that is discussing the church but is not promoting the church? If it is true but not faith promoting is it considered "anti-Mormon"? I'm sure there are a few things out there that are written about the church and not true... I however have never seen such material.
Would one be wise to stay away from true material if it is not faith promoting?
What do you consider "anti-Mormon" material?
