No clue. I actually used the search feature to search around a bit and didn't find anything. But I'm not as good at using the search feature as a pro like Juliann is.

Maybe we see what we want to see. I certainly didn't get what she did out of the suicide thread (in fact, many of us were skeptical about it).

I suppose that if there's a lesson to be learned here (about seeing only what you want to see according to your own prejudices and bias) is that we are all guilty of it to some extent.

Is it the suicide thread in this forum? If so, I explicitly stated no less than five times that nobody was saying the temple was the sole cause of the man's depression and subsequent suicide. His mom stated (and I quoted her directly) that in one of her last conversations with him, he told her how he felt about his (first?) temple session. She just mentioned it as one possible element in the overall picture for him as she tried to understand why he did the ultimate act. I guess if you only read subject lines of threads and then read into them what you assume people mean, you are bound to misinterpret the discussion.

I have long found that many Mormons are instinctively defensive. Since reading FAIR and then MADB my impression on this is confirmed and it's easy to see how, as has been mentioned, one's preconceptions can colour how we see things. It works both ways, of course.

On a different note, going back to check that "suicide thread", I see a couple of my posts have **** in some places - is that a mod blanking out some text or is it a little glitch in a program somewhere? I can't imagine what I said that would need deleting. I don't recall swearing or spilling my guts about the temple (which is OK here anyway, is it not?) Should I email the mods? If so, how do you do that? Sorry for my newbieness.

It's a glitch or something:

some normal words that start with "sh" get blocked (which is really weird to see someone who uses clean language with a bunch of *** in their posts).
