He answers your questions with the mute, holy ghost, who only answers questions yes, no, maybe.

The so called doctrine that you profess to follow originated with god? Do you have proof of that?

I have proof that it came from Joe & Co., with that I'd say you are following the doctrines of men.

Just because Joe & Co. said their ideas came from god does not make it so.

I'd venture to guess you are a BIC Mormon?

If you come here to prove Mormonism, then you have lost already.
If you come here to bear your testimony, we will laugh at you.

Not sure what BIC means, I use Gillette. The mute Holy Ghost who gives me prophetic dreams, visions, and lets me talk with him in a very non-yes/no manner.

As for proof that God started the religion, God told me. First-hand witness.

You can't prove Joseph created the doctrine any more than I can prove God did. Where did I say Joseph's claims of talking to God are my main support? His testimony is at best secondhand and often third or more. We can chuck evidence at each other all day but I'm guessing we'd be playing with counters. I doubt I have the evidence to sway you and I don't think you have the evidence to sway me.

Prove Mormonsim????? Where did you get the idea that was my goal. It can't be proved by one human to another. If God were interested in openly proving it to the world he certainly wouldn't need my help.

What pillow talk does Joseph give you while toweling off?

And why did I not mention God? Because "God" does not exist.

You should debate this guy if this is the level to which you can draw this conclusion from what I said: http://www.backyardprofessor.com/the_ba ... _for_.html

You'll have a blast I promise.

Already have one, have never used it as an aid to revelation, maybe someday.

For what it's worth, I think it's terribly disrespectful and rude to talk about other people's spiritual experiences in such derisive and offensive terms. You may not accept that other people have had experience with the divine, but you don't need to be so smug and mocking about it.

Nehor, I'm sorry you've gotten this kind of treatment here.

I figured as much (I'm kind of used to it too). But still, it shouldn't happen.

skippy the dead wrote:There's a discussion going on over on MAD about this announcement about what is defined as "doctrine". Some relevant parts of the announcement:
* Not every statement made by a Church leader, past or present, necessarily constitutes doctrine. A single statement made by a single leader on a single occasion often represents a personal, though well-considered, opinion, but is not meant to be officially binding for the whole Church. With divine inspiration, the First Presidency (the prophet and his two counselors) and the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles (the second-highest governing body of the Church) counsel together to establish doctrine that is consistently proclaimed in official Church publications. This doctrine resides in the four “standard works” of scripture (the Holy Bible, the Book of Mormon, the Doctrine and Covenants and the Pearl of Great Price), official declarations and proclamations, and the Articles of Faith. Isolated statements are often taken out of context, leaving their original meaning distorted.

* Some doctrines are more important than others and might be considered core doctrines. For example, the precise location of the Garden of Eden is far less important than doctrine about Jesus Christ and His atoning sacrifice. The mistake that public commentators often make is taking an obscure teaching that is peripheral to the Church’s purpose and placing it at the very center. This is especially common among reporters or researchers who rely on how other Christians interpret Latter-day Saint doctrine.

Very cool. Perhaps TBM's will now stop taking every word that falls from the lips of a GA as "gospel." Does this mean that LDS women can now wear a second pair of earrings without the stigma? ;)
"Moving beyond apologist persuasion, LDS polemicists furiously (and often fraudulently) attack any non-traditional view of Mormonism. They don't mince words -- they mince the truth."
