Alas! Who will raise the bar in your absence?

Maybe we'll luck out, and Juliann will show up!

Madame la Comtesse de la Tourette sets the bar pretty high. Her humble and persuasive eloquence is difficult for us lesser mortals to cope with.

It's obvious that you're both my superiors in civility and manners.

PrecogUnction wrote:Or was that your idea of an apology?

If you'll let me know what I need to apologize for, that would help.

Did I fail to call CK an obscene name, perhaps?

I forgot something, he pointed out my oversight, and I noted that I had forgotten it. What more is there to be said?

I still don't think it fair to suggest that the Review gives bad books a pass if they're written by believers. Our record of critiquing such books is public and clear. I apologize for thinking that.

You may now insult me.

It is true that there are a few reviews critical of books written by Mormons, but I am unaware of any that critically examine books written by Mormon scholars. I know John Tvetdnes slammed Michael T. Griffith many years ago (who took it personally and left apologetics as a result). Ben Huff criticized Richard Hopkins, and Hauglid reviewed some cheesy book written by some no-name Mormon writing about Muslims.

Is this FARMS' weak attempt to appear balanced, by occasionally criticizing the irrelevant apologist?

I think the point by CK is well taken. Reviewers do not research the footnotes of books written by prominent LDFS figures/scholars. I mean for crying out loud this dishonest move by Kimball has stood the test of time and the Seyffarth nugget has been used in Book of Abraham apologetics ever since. It is a key argument that is crucial in salvaging the MPT. Why doesn't anyone check the accuracy of this research?

Because if it is wrong, nobody wants to know.

As a result, scholarship on the FARMS end takes a credibility hit for turning a blind eye to prolific LDS scholars/historians. Heck, it took this 20 year-old "kid" from California -whom William Schryver has attacked for being too young - to call your attention to this blatant error.

But CK is the bad guy as expected. Just like I am the bad guy for deciding to confirm a dreaded rumor you have been passing about for several years. What bothers me the most is the fact that truth doesn't seem to matter to you guys. I mean ever after you find out the truth, you are pissed off because you had to discover it from a "critic." And we all know critics are the devil's employees. They are supposed to be the ones who are dishonest, rabid, vile, unscholarly etc., not the other way around.

I gotta ask.....at what point should "CaliforniaKid" change his name to "CaliforniaManWhoKeepsHaloTeabaggingTheFlaccidApologistsWhoLieHelplesslyOnTheGround"?

(Coffee and Mercury will understand that probably)

LOL!

Does it mean I have as warped a sense of humor as Beavis and Butthead a.k.a. PP and Merc because I think it's funny?

Don't answer that!
