When will the Mormon soup-slurping thread start?

So many of you ex-Mormons just feed, and feed, and feed, off so much negativity.

I knew Runtu would be back. Like the rest of the exmos he's addicted to criticism of his former belief. He truly can't leave it alone.

Uh, Ray, this is a discussion board dedicated to discussing Mormonism frequented by, among others, ex-Mormons.

Just what the hell did you expect?

If you dislike it so much, why even bother?

Your lack of self-disclipline in terms of not leaving ex-Mo's alone is no better than the lack of self-discipline you accuse others of in terms on not leaving the Mormon Church alone. You'd demonstrate your commitment to the underlying principle you espouse by knocking off your "I hate ex-Mos" schtick.

There's no hope for you. You spot an anti-Mormon board, and you say to yourself: "Let me join the mudslingers, because I have nothing positive, and wish to contribute nothing positive to the world. If I see a mob bashing a religion, I want to get a few kicks to the head in too." Sometimes I think you nomos are worse. You must be motivated out of pure malice. The Church hasn't hurt you, yet you want to kick it in the guts. This is like scalping someone who had just been mugged. What on earth motivates you? Another misguided "save the world" mission?

Ray are you admitting that we have been mugged by the Church? I think so.

He's pretty low key about it.....less than 200 posts. Sigh.

Ozemc you better beef up your output of anti-mormon mudslinging posts or you won't get in free to the next meeting.

I think they would have more luck striking up conversations if they didn't wear the "uniform".

I know a few months ago I came home and there were two missionaries going around my neighborhood. My mother was sitting on the porch and the missionaries waved to me as they went by. I waved back and my mother said, "I already told them not interested and directed them to the trailer park."

So, ignoring my mother and her snide privileged pretension I was a bit disappointed that she had shooed them away from my home before I'd had a chance to interact. She did that because she recognized the "uniform". Not saying they would have gotten far with her... but they may have made it at least to the porch?

You're welcome. I fully understand the plight of exmos. After all, I became one 20 years ago. So am I supposed to keep digging up dirt on the Church to make myself feel better? Apparently some do, and just can't let it go. They go from zealous Mormons to zealous anti-Mormons. They are just as passionate about their anti-Mormonism as they were about their Mormonism.

Gee, even when I went on Exmo-Social to discuss social issues, some couldn't let it go. Then I began to wonder if any exmo could talk rationally about their former religion, well, at least among Internet exmos. It was like looking for a saint in Sodom. Like a bitter divorcee out to get his/her ex-spouse, and heaven knows I have experienced that to a degree most haven't. When I first went through divorce seven years ago I was bitter, but I got such good advice from so many friends who were in similar situations - brother, move on, life goes on. And it did. The world doesn't want to know how bitter and angry you are, and you'll get a lot more understanding if you face your trials with courage, and speak your mind without cheap digs at people or a religion (or spouse) you once worshipped (or loved). The world doesn't want to hear your petty quarrels, hates, and constant fault-finding, nor your brooding sarcasm about Mormonism. Maybe it's a stage many have to go through. How is it possible to discuss anything rationally when so many threads are started with the purpose of belittling Mormons? They do it too? Maybe if there was less complaining about how Mormon missionaries dress, or how they slurp soup, they would not do it. I made a promise to myself a long time ago on FAIR that I would cease cheap or sarcastic criticism of the Church, and it becomes a habit.

And to those who say I can't stop criticising exmos - When you stop criticising Mormonism, I promise I will stop criticising exmos. You have my promise! And of course I'm speaking of negative, unproductive, unwarrented criticism - like this thread, and so many others.

I have work to do.

The concept of Old before their time is pretty odd. Really, modern society is keeping us young way past our time. In the past a male was an adult at 14-16 and in our society we still have them in government-sponsored daycare programs (school).

Beats me. Apparently, where Ray lives, merely pondering why the LDS church prefers a certain image in the way its missionaries dress is demeaning and negative, whereas telling someone they are pathetic, sniveling, and obsessed is merely a logical response to stupidity.

At least I think that's how it works.

I thought everything was going along nicely and objectively until he came along with his negativity.

If a religion gets a lot of criticism, there might be two obvious reasons: 1) the religion is flawed, or 2) Satan. I'll go with the first.

I'm guessing the Catholics thought that Luther's criticisms were pretty negative, unproductive and unwarranted. You're on the wrong side of the equation. History will prove this out.

And yet, with all this, you slammed me just because I asked about those of us who have never been Mormons.

It appears that you just like to criticize, no matter the topic. What a dreary existence.
