Inconceivable
Actually I hadn't read those statements before. They're really good, I especially liked the second one, I should copy that down.
Lots of people talk about Christ being married, but I haven't ever seen any official statement stating such from anyone. Altohugh that second quote you posted is a nice one in a historical recorded statement kind of way.

"Good" as in Jesus is Good or Good grief am I that ignorant of something so easily documented?
So you especially liked the second one? Did you like it because it was a quote from a special witness, an apostle of the Lord Jesus Christ in the last dispensation of the fullness of times? A man that speaks from the pulpit the mind and will of the Lord? Because he is a man with first hand knowledge and testimony of the Prophet Joseph Smith? Because his capacity to accept the meat of the gospel was beyond that of yours?
As a special witness, the Lord Jesus Christ himself may very well have revealed this information to Him.
I see that you are implying that this man who was worthy to hold the same mighty office as Matthew, Mark, Luke and Paul was expressing conjecture? Do you find that Paul said a lot of things that you did not file in the "true" basket as well?
Did the spirit tell you that he spoke as a man, an apostle or neither? What would he make of your conclusion if he were living today?
My entire point here is that I think the line you draw that separates revelatory doctrine from speculation is not being done with a straight edge. But neither are the lines of your pals in Salt Lake as well. So long as this remains the pattern of your standards, your belief system will have it's thoughtful critics.

Gee, Doctor Steuss, In what way does this cartoon "bash" you. The cartoon might point out how silly some of the LDS beliefs are, but it sure does not "bash" you, and for the it seems to me to be quite accurate, IMHO.

You're right Gaz- they totally misquoted D&C 135:33 Joseph Smith, the aProphet and bSeer of the Lord, has done more, csave Jesus only, for the salvation of men in this world, than any other man that ever lived in it. In the short space of twenty years, he has brought forth the Book of Mormon, which he translated by the gift and power of God, and has been the means of publishing it on two continents; has sent the dfulness of the everlasting gospel, which it contained, to the four quarters of the earth; has brought forth the revelations and commandments which compose this book of Doctrine and Covenants, and many other wise documents and instructions for the benefit of the children of men; gathered many thousands of the Latter-day Saints, founded a great city, and left a fame and name that cannot be slain. He lived great, and he died great in the eyes of God and his people; and like most of the Lord’s anointed in ancient times, has sealed his mission and his works with his own eblood; and so has his brother Hyrum. In life they were not divided, and in death they were not fseparated!
Gaz, care to respond?? * crickets *

I was just uppity when I made that post. I hope they have another cartoon where a Mohel is performing a Bris Milah. That would be cool too right? I mean, it’s just showing how ridiculous it is… right? Cartoons of LDS temple ceremonies would be cool too… right? I mean, hey, what does it matter if the sole intent is to make other’s beliefs look silly. Christian’s ritualistically cannibalize the flesh and blood of their God, so all is fair in love and war. Atheists think we came from monkeys. Whatever we do, let’s not try to convey the beliefs of others in an accurate and respectable manner; it’s much better to do it in cartoons.

Gaz is correct. "Mormons Do Not Believe that Joseph Smith did more for our salvation than Jesus Christ..."
He [Joseph Smith] has done more, save Jesus only.
Translation: Jesus did more than Joseph.
Edited to add:
I tend to think Abraham did more than Joseph too though.
And, I don't know what crawled up my butt and died to make me do that last post (and its predecessor), but its carcass is still in my orifice, so I'm not going to go back and change it... yet.

I'm sorry, it's just that.... well, for an outside observer these beliefs are......rrr.... silly. No offense intended, and Mormons are not alone in having silly beliefs. However, that just goes with the territory, some people will look at those beliefs and just can't help but chuckle. You just got to shrugg it off and tell yourself "my beliefs are not silly and those people who think they are are just ill informed nincompoops".
