Given that rcrocket recently called me a sociopath, I would say the insults go in both directions.
There are times when the lines between an accurate descriptor and an insult become blurred--not that this is necessarily the case here. ;-)
But, I am all for erroring on the side of caution, and think that all would be better served to avoid remarks that may be considered insulting by either side.
Even still, while a single drip of water is comparable in one way to the massive flow of a fire hose (they both entail movement of water), in other ways the comparison seems absurd. I would suggest that the same is true for insults going both directions on this board. It is one thing to bring up a single example of a personalized insult (and I am aware that others could be noted as well), and quite another to find numerous and frequent insults leveled here against an entire class of people. The former may be in bad taste, but the later is...well, I'll let you answer that for yourself. I certainly don't want to be falsely accused of insulting on a thread about not insulting. :-0
Wade,
You have always been extremely obtuse about your own behavior. I was just looking at some Z archives and happened upon this old favorite - the thread wherein you called Roger a bigot, and then spent pages denying you had done so.

Wade, to Roger, who had just provided very calm and noninsulting observations about wade's "anti-bigotry initiative":
That is odd. My generic definitions of "bigotry" and "religious bigotry" make no reference to "anti's" or "ex's", and that was intentional (not all "anti's" and "ex's" are bigots, and those that are, comprise but a subset of a much larger set). So, where you got that impression is anyone's guess, and certainly not from what I have said on this thread.
Could it be that you have tried on for size the generic definitional shoe, and are understandably quite uncomfotable with the perfectness of the fit, which in turn has caused you to scramble in a failed attempt at redefining the discomfort away?
When numerous posters pointed out how ludicrous it was to accuse Roger of being a bigot, Wade kept denying he had ever done so:
Not that this has any relevance to the NON-PERSONAL subject of this thread, I am not sure who or what you have in mind. Hopefully, you were not referring to my rhetorical QUESTION, because for my part, the answer was left unmentioned and even open. It was also repeatedly tabled for another time and a more appropriate location (one where discussion of personal issues are not against board rules).
Please refrane from cluttering this NON-PERSONAL thread with these kinds of irrelevant and PERSONALIZED comments.
And, in fact, he continued to insist on other threads, referencing this one, that he had made no personal attack, no insult:

Sr correctly pointed out:
sr: I have been here little over the last few months. But I can offer an example. You use the term "Bigot" to namecall. The way you use this word causes me to believe you are using the most vile term you can use to convey your disgust and hatred. It is a much harsher term that something such as "cultist". Is that just my perception? Perhaps, but it is a real perception nonetheless.
wade's response:
Perhaps you have me confused with someone else. While it is true that I have used the term "bigot" over the last several months, it was in a thread where I solicited NON-PERSONALIZED discussions on my GENERIC definition of the term. I don't recall even once calling anyone a "bigot"--though I did suggest that several participants had made comments that appeared to be fundamentalistic and authoritarian in nature. So, that isn't really evidence of my supposed "bitterness" or "hatred" or "dusgust".
Wade, your first challenge is to begin recognizing your own behavior. Until and unless you do that, and continue to engage in mental obfuscations that hide your own behavior from self-recognition, all this obsessing about the behavior of others is nothing but one more self-smoke screen.
