Well good luck with her, Scottie, and I really mean that, from the heart. I hope it works out. I'm guessing this kind of relationship could only work if either she saw the light and left the church, or completely suspended her LDS mindset and decided to love and support a man who will not, and cannot take her to the Celestial Kingdom, who will not, and cannot excercise the blessings of the Priesthood in her home, and who will not or cannot raise her future children up in the Gospel. What do you think the likelihood is that she could be satisfied with these things? But still, like I said, I cross my fingers and wish you the best with her. Just remember, and I'm sure you need no reminder, she probably sees everything through LDS lenses, and will not be kindly disposed to you when the reality of your apostasy hits her. You will be judged.

Maybe I don't know the full story, but she doesn't know you're an 'apostate'? And if so, how is it that you can say you've 'connected' so well?

No, she does. It's so very complex.

Wearing a mask at all times is very very tiring. At some point, you just want to take it off and shout: "This is me! This is the real me! Either love me or don't, but let me be the real me!"

Not that I know anything about it, of course.

I feel for you too, man. I'm assuming you are primarily disaffected upon principles of integrity. The sooner you tell her the better the chances (albeit remote) that she'll at least recognize your sincerity. It wouldn't be cool to let her fall for someone she doesn't know. This hits pretty close to home for anyone within a relationship involving a TBM.

Well, you could always ask her to pray about it?

We've known each other for 10 months now. We've been going through the motions of dating for the past couple of months, but just made it official last week.

I honestly don't know if this will work out or not. She has her reservations as do I. In my experience, relationships fail more often than they succeeed, so I'm not expecting this to go any further than casual dating.

I don't think you guys know what it's like to date in Utah County where 90% of the women are Mormon. When you say there are lots of fish in the sea, well, there aren't. My sea is full of Mormons. My only other hope is to find one that doesn't care about her partner being an apostate.

Believe me, if my kids weren't here, I'd be out of Utah so fast it would make your head spin.

I'm trying to make my way the best I can.
