Given the history of the recovered memory fiasco, it would be odd if the complaint alleged that recovered memories were involved.

What is hypnosis? Is the word "hypnosis" another red herring? Does the "unconscious" or the "subconscious" mind really exist?

If a perpetrator understands that if he or she intentionally makes an event horrifying enough, a child's mind will forget the trauma, is the perpetrator incentivizwd to make the event horrifying?

What kind of things would a perpetrator need to do to make an event horrifying?

If a Mormon perpetrator were to intentionally design horrifying events so a child would forget, would it be surprising if the events aligned with the Mormon religion? Would we expect a Mormon perpetrator to design horrifying events that aligned with Islam?

If a child forgets a horrifying trauma, how can the adulit the child becomes ever remember the trauma without "recovering" the memory?

So your answer to the question, "If some memories are false, are all memories false?" Is "no"? Or is your answer that all old memories are false? Or only that some old memories are false?

Is it the length of time between the moment of recall and the date the memory was made the determining factor between a "true" memory and a "false" memory?

Well. I don't really know. When it comes to our brains, and our perception of the world, where does it cross over from science into philosophy, or even metaphysics?

Once something is recorded, is it real or is it Memorex? And using that analogy if the tape you're using to store data on is crappy, then how good is the recording? And if the tape has been erased, and later subjected to forensics how much data are you recovering and is it enough information to make out the original event that merited recording in the first place?

In the case of a memory, was the "tape" ever erased? Are the things that are currently at the top of your mind the only things "recorded" in your mind? If not, are there many things "recorded" in your mind that you don't currently have conscious access to right this second? Is a tape recorder the right analogy?

Is a "recording" of a memory that was forgotten of higher quality or lower quality than the "recording" of a memory that was not forgotten and that an individual has replayed many times in his or her mind? Does the replaying of a memory that is not forgotten increase the likelihood that the memory has been changed and, let's say... tampered with, over time? If so, would this mean that a memory that is not forgotten is more "tampered" with than a memory that is forgotten and is therefore of lower quality?

What is it like when a person remembers something that was not previously remembered? Does the person remember a "recording" that has been replayed multiple times or does the person remember a "recording" that has not been "tampered" with previously?

What's the connection between the image you posted and the text to which it's responding?

Down in the Spirit Paradise forum Res Ipsa is a passionate defender of Dr. Ford and her sexual assault claims. As you might know, Dr. Ford claims to have recovered or reconstructed the memory of these events through therapy. Her defenders are very, very passionate about believing her claims. There are obvious parallels between the topic of this thread and that one. The face I posted along with the highlighted portions of Res Ipsa's post were meant to point out his blatant hypocrisy and to poke fun at him a bit through the use of imagery, in this case, a goofy looking red head with a "You got to be damned kidding me." look on his face.

I hope my deconstructing the post helps you navigate the complexities and nuance of human social interaction, brother.
