To a naïve person like myself, August would seem like the obvious time for release. I'm not sure what makes me think that :)
If released in August, I think they were afraid that it would only run for six days.

I looked up the 3 cinemark locations located in Texas. There are currently 2 people who have bought tickets. Out of several dozen screenings across the next week. That’s at least a couple thousand empty seats viewing Daniel’s film in one state alone.

Perhaps there will be a larger walk-up audience.

Ouch. 2 tickets? Maybe missionaries can be recruited to call members in the area and guilt them into buying more. Call it ticket-tithing.

Opening day is a bit better in the promised land:

The century salt lake 16 in Utah has a total of 9 tickets sold tonight. That’s out of the maximum of 200 possible for selling out all 4 showings in the 50 seat auditorium.

Is there some reason people would be expected to buy tickets ahead of time? Anybody fearing being too late to get a seat?

50 seat auditorium? The theatre owners must not have expected it to do very well if they put it in a theatre that size.

That seems to be the plan. Most theaters are putting it in a small house, or if it was in the big house at the beginning of the day, it’s moved to the small house for the last round.

I’ve also noticed that a lot of locations have 4 shows for the first day, then quickly move to only one show a day after that.

Not the most auspicious launch, I have to say.

After this is over, the Interpreter can get back to attacking Hasidic Mormons.

Judging from the red carpet photographs of the 6DIA movie, several members of the cast eschewed wearing their temple garments.

The Executive Producer couldn’t be bothered dressing reasonably smartly for the event.
