I wonder how much it would have cost the church to match each donation.
In my opinion, the church sponsors this 'gifting' program throughout the world specifically for the opportunity for givers to give.

I think that is a wonderful thing.

It's done a lot of good. For the receivers and the givers. It's interesting to me that even at this season of giving and love we see those that only have hard things to say against something that is so obviously good.

Grinches. ;)

Because without the program, people would not have an opportunity to give to others.

No doubt you do. You would think a turd fished from Dallin's toilet before flushed is a wonderful thing.

Just another funnel, another oppo for the 'Brethren' to get their grubby little hands on others' money. They are masterful at duping hundreds of thousands.[/quote]

Yep. And trying to bring a real Christmas back to all the Who's in Whoville.

...Money raised: More than $16 million was raised for various charities...
Of which not one penny came from LDS church funds. They set up the gimmick to get other people to donate. They brag that they cover all operational costs, but they solicit their members to 'volunteer' time to manage them. Meanwhile, the Ensign fund the LDS church hoards generates 16 million in interest in less than 8 hours. And does so EVERY 8 hours. One day's interest could more than quadruple the giving machine donations for a year. One day's interest.

Giving machines are a publicity stunt that the LDS church hides behind so they can hoard more money, while taking credit for other people's charity. It's disgusting.

Apparently too much. Donors to public radio can do it but a trillion dollar religion can’t.
By my calculation, less than 8 hours of interest on the Ensign fund would match last year's donations. It's disgusting to see LDS bragging about this.

No way in hell!

As an Ex-Mormon and one who is extremely critical of the Church, I would feel most uncomfortable putting money into one of those dirty machines in which the Church would use the value thereof to promote its own self image. I'm not interested in helping the Church look more Christian.

It's very simple, I will not support giving machines promoted by the Mormon religion. No way! Hell no!

Besides, I'd feel dirty touching one of those machines and that wouldn't feel so good, would it precious? I trust Marcus would feel dirty too, isn't that right, precious?

"Touch not the unclean thing!"

Screw you, MG, and the machine you rode in on.

Who the hell are you trying to kid? Every month of the year is a season of giving and love.

You are just another Mormon trying to make people feel guilty. We have legitimate objections to this program!

I wouldn't toss a wooden nickel at one of those dirty Mormon machines.

And some of that money once belonged to me!

Give me my f-ing money back, with interest! The Church robbed me.

I sincerely regret ever giving that church a single dime.

Bastards.
