Re: A few questions for Shulem

Holy hell.

I knew that the facsimiles all had entirely different meaning than what is presented in the Book of Abraham, Mr. Nibley’s work taught me that much, but I had no idea that Mr. Smith made deliberate alterations to them aside from erroneously filling in missing spaces. I was willing to grant Mr. Smith the benefit of the doubt by holding him in the same regard as say Joseph Campbell, a man borrowing symbols from various cultures to create a powerful of myth of his own, but not to be taken seriously by anthropologists. But this evidence is honestly quite incriminating of Mr. Smith. I do not take kindly to obscuring the truth while purporting to worship the God of Truth whose glory is intelligence.

Everyone has been lied to ever since the Book of Abraham first went to press in Nauvoo and the saints were made to see and understand what Smith wanted them to see and understand. Smith's personal ego was supersized and he lived a life thinking that what he conceived was the mind and will of God and the world was subject to his will.

Apparently, Bill Reel, will be running a special on Anubis' snout very soon and I hope him the best in doing so. It will be interesting to see how he does and what's expressed in that podcast. I don't expect to watch it live because I have distanced myself from much of that kind of noise these days. I will finish the final half hour of the Missing Scroll Theory podcast today. Other than my objections to their misrepresenting the "big dog" on the wrong papyrus and a long 3 hour presentation, I have no other complaints. It's been somewhat enjoyable but these podcasts are too long. Personally, I have always felt that podcasts should not exceed one (1) hour and should be broken down in parts when more time is needed. A lot of chitchat in these podcasts is filler and should be avoided and the conversations tightened up. I think RFM kept things to an hour early on in his original podcasts but thereafter went the way of John Dehlin whose podcasts are also way way to to long, if you get what I'm saying.

Happy Friday!

I completely get what you’re saying. I have at most a thirty minute commute each way, not an hour and a half. I have only an hour to listen before my time is otherwise occupied. Either way I’m glad the research is being done. Never have I felt I had a better handle on real Book of Mormon scholarship than when listening to Mr. Reel. I’m glad he’s undertaking the Book of Abraham and I hope for your sake and mine he does so correctly.
Happy Friday to you as well!
