Are you making sure to comment this on his videos or just here? I’d think the former would be necessary to bring it to his attention best.Shulem wrote: ↑Mon Jun 09, 2025 11:31 pmIt makes me wonder what other mistakes RFM has made that have gone uncorrected by listeners, apologists, and critics (such as myself). I believe that checks and balances are an important aspect of keeping things in line and accurate. I wonder if RFM feels the same?
As far as I'm concerned, if RFM refuses to correct the error then he's lost credibility or, even worse, trust.
It remains to be seen.
Have a nice day...

Re: Mormon Discussion Inc. f-up!
I've made the assumption that RFM or Reel have seen my complaint in this thread, more especially RFM because he frequents the board and pays attention. I elected not to comment elsewhere because I like hanging out in the shadows and just don't have much to say anymore. I tend to think my days on this board are numbered as I disappear and become less active in presenting my critical analysis about a number of Mormon subjects.
My best guess is that I'm being ignored if not shunned. I'm okay with that.

Well I’m certainly curious about your work. Specifically I was remembering all I read from Hugh Nibley about what Facsimile 2 is actually about. I wonder if more research has been done on the hypocephalus since his days.

Re: Mormon Discussion Inc. f-up!
I broke down and posted a message at the YouTube video.
Let's see if anything happens...Hey, RFM, you've been somewhat haled to appear over at Discuss Mormonism in the "A few questions for Shulem" thread wherein correction is in order. Thanks!

Re: Mormon Discussion Inc. f-up!
Based on past experience, I don't feel so lucky when it comes to RFM's willingness to catch the wind, jump in, and set the record right. Reverend Henry Caswall simply reported what he learned in Nauvoo and the publication of Facsimile No. 2 in Times and Seasons is proof that he was talking about a different vignette (Nefer-ir-nebu Book of the Dead Judgement Scene) and not the Hypocephalus.
For the record:
Facsimile No. 2, Fig. 5. wrote:Is called in Egyptian Enish-go-on-dosh....
Facsimile No. 2, Fig. 6. wrote:Represents this earth in its four quarters.
How RFM sees a big dog as the devil in the register is beyond imagination. To his credit, he admitted that he didn't have any idea of who the person was standing behind the Hathor cow and assumed it was a "god." But proper research would have prevented RFM from making terrible assumptions and misrepresenting Smith and Caswall in his Mormonism Live podcast. I'm afraid listeners have been badly misinformed by someone who doesn't know what they are talking about. RFM has to fix this or his credibility is on the line.
Robert Ritner via Wikipedia wrote:A cow, representing Hathor, the heavenly cow. Behind is a standing female figure with the Eye of Horus depicted on her head and holding out a water lily in her left hand.
RFM, you have to make good and fix it. Explain to your listeners that you screwed up and made bad ASSumptions. Do the right thing! Then move forward and keep up the good work!

Okay, so I'm watching the latest Mormon Discussion podcast The Book of Abraham's Missing Scroll Theory and I can't understand how they can f-up so badly. Ugh. RFM, please understand, the cow is not the dog!
ugh
Look, I have been preaching this sh*t for decades and I'm getting old now.
The "Court of Osiris" On Screen.
Look, I hope that Reel and RFM will correct their presentation and inform their readers that Facsimile No. 2 has nothing to do with the "big dog" and the devil. You guys are making fools of yourselves in making a terrible error which you wouldn't have done if you were more familiar with my scholarship. But, I appreciate your efforts in what you've done in explaining the Book of Abraham. I'm on your side!
PS. I'm retired and living in a forest in a blissful state of Moksha. I'm loving my life this time around!
It's paradise!

I asked two different A.I. models what you’re talking about here, and I’d be very interested in your opinion on whether either of them understand your point:

That was very interesting, to say the least. It certainly appears that both A.I.'s working together pretty much spelled out what I expressed and the "Bottom line" is spot on. I'm glad that A.I. was able to learn from me!
Let A.I. kneel before me and learn from the master!

It was also interesting to see how A.I. described my behavior:
1) "he’s calling BS in the most polite forum‑mod way possible"
2) "Shulem is scolding Bill Reel and Radio Free Mormon"
I sincerely hope that I didn't come across too harsh and if so it's only for their good and the betterment of their message/presentation.
PS. I'm confident that A.I. would agree with me that Delmarva was the geographical location for Smith's Book of Mormon. Again, I am the master.
