What exactly about disagreeing with Mormonism constitutes a hateful ideology? Sure, some people really hate Mormonism, but not all of us. And why does my disagreeing with your characterization indicate my feelings of superiority?

I wonder what it is that drives you to paint with such a broad brush.

Oh, I don't know; maybe it has something to do with the fact that some anti's can pretend to be civil to our faces, and then call the Church of Jesus Christ a "f***ing cult" when they think no-one is looking.

Does that seem hateful enough for you?

In case you can't remember, I nearly killed myself just over a year ago; whereas others encouraged me to get to an ER (which I did), you sent mocking personal messages to me. I'd rather call Mormonism a f*cking cult than encourage a suicide.

Oh dear. I really hope you weren't too insulted by that. ;)

Mind you, if they've got that particular bee in their bonnet, the fact that I've now shown up won't discourage them. They will simply assume that you're my sock-puppet. (That I might be your sock-puppet is unlikely to occur to them, unimaginative lot that they are.)

But, there isn't a whole lot of substance on this board. Very unlike FAIR, I might add. The vicious anti-Mormons who haunt here are, with the exception of a few, aren't very well read and some are downright naïve.

Ahh, the question for the ages.

Since March of this year I have repeatedly mocked posters on this board with being obsessed with FAIR. (Sometimes, and it is so danged laughable, they are also obsessed with RFM.) The particularly obsessor is Kevin Graham, but he is of recent vintage. He isn't that great a writer so I can't figure him out sometimes.

Since I rarely to never post on FAIR (basically, in times past, having posted only when invited by the Mods on a particular historical subject), I see a long list of unfamiliar names here paraded in disgust. The particular focus of their venom is somebody by the name of Julianne. I really have little clue as to whom she is except she appears to be from what I read on this board a major FAIR denizen of significant intelligence and little tolerance for several folks here.

And then (holding my sides as I chortle with laughter), there's DCP, whom I understand from reading this board is Satan himself -- except, almost everybody on this board is an atheist, so that doesn't really make loads of sense to me.

There's you. You are the archetypical fiend of hell (see the point in my prior paragraph), at least the way they describe you.

Of course, as they castigate you, DCP and Julianne, they hold themselves out as paragons of virtue, erudition, and wisdom. Never mind the fact that (at least since March) we are treated to discussions about masturbation, personal infidelity, hatred of their faithful spouses, hatred of their divorced spouses (lots of divorce here), pre-marital sex, and homosexual bliss among these paragons.

Along the way, of course, I get a lot of abuse. I am told I have got to be one of the worst lawyers on the planet. My church position is mocked to the nth degree and my qualifications for it. But, I digress. This is not about me.

Well, since I had my FAIR account deleted shortly after that memorable weekend, I don't have your messages to me. What I recall is that I was close to suicide, and several FAIR posters, including juliann, encouraged me to get help. One church member even called me to talk me through it. In my conversations with you, however, you told me that I should feel bad for my apostasy and dishonesty and that I would get no sympathy from you. That my leaving the church had destroyed my marriage and that I had no one to blame but myself. I simply had asked your forgiveness, and none was ever forthcoming. Thank God for those people who recognized where I was emotionally. I got into the hospital and got treatment. I had a razor sharp knife on my desk that day, and I was ready to use it. It's not easy recalling that weekend, but that's what happened. I'm still stunned by your callous response to my depressive crisis. Over the years on a.r.m., I always cringed at your verbal assaults on critics of the church, but I never saw anything like what I saw that day. Using the f-word in describing the church is probably pretty juvenile, but it's not even close.

I admit I've harbored a lot of anger toward you since that day. Maybe it's time for me to forgive. I'm trying.

Can you see where this is going? Your posts on this board are just going to make people who have some milk of human kindness in them totally unwilling to engage you, disagree with you, or criticize you for fear that in the future you will come back and make accusations of precipitating a suicide attempt. I know that if you came back down the line and said to me the things you are saying to another poster on this board, I couldn't sleep for days and would probably abandon board participation forever. You are being unfair to deal this card.

Get your personal life off the public boards. Get help from real people. God bless you and help you.
