A FREETHINKER? Ohhhhhh Liz. You just said a bad word. You just tugged on Superman's cape. You just pulled the mask of the the Lone Ranger.
I'm going to let you off this time (that term is usually reserved for people like Madalyn Murry O' Har and other secular humanist liberals who like to think that they "think for themselves" while serious religious people are mind numbed puppets who are are either stupid, mentally deficient, or evil)
In any case, so you are not a "typical toe the line TBM". What does this mean? If you have a 'bare bones" testimony of the gospel (might have to define this as well), then you must have a testimony that the Lord's annointed servants to lead the church have authourity to do so. How do you decide when to toe the line as to the cuunsel of the Prophets and Apostles of the Lord and when not to?
Do you consider yourself to be a kind of "cafateria" saint, or something more rigorous?

You are so superficial, Bond...thinking only of the physical...how "Bond-like" of you. LOL Still, I am a "Bond girl", so of course, I'm drawn to you nonetheless. ;)
Would you have prefered "Girls, Girls, Girls" by Motley Crue? How about "Foxy Lady" by Hendrix? "Fat Bottomed Girls" by Queen? "Hot Legs" by Rod Stewart? "Brick House" by the Commodores? "Whole Lotta Rosie" by AC/DC? "A Quick One While He's Away" by The Who?
Seriously: How about "We're Not Gonna Take It" by The Who. It's about rejecting prophets and their kooky philosophy.

I have actually referred to myself as a "cafeteria Mormon" in other threads. I'm not sure if that is an entirely accurate description, because I do have a testimony of the gospel, as it is today. I have no problem with the Proclamation of the Family, and with the basic principles of the Church.
Here are a few of the things I do have a problem with:
Mormons are the kings and queens of holding meetings to hold a meeting. It's almost like we have taken a step back to the Old Testament era where the Jews had to follow Mosaic Law. You had to take so many steps in such and such order during this time frame....You get the idea. The Church is very caught up in numbers and reporting. "You had a 60% Visiting Teaching success rate. You had a 40% Home teaching success rate..." Christ fulfilled the law! Let's get past the numbers! Sometimes I feel like the Church is running a coroporation instead of a Church. I understand that there needs to be organization, but it seems like the "heart" is lost behind the record keeping.
I have very mixed emotions and major issues regarding plural marriage being an eternal law, but that's for another thread. ;)
I don't like the guilt trip placed on both men and women when it comes to fulfilling callings. I have learned to say "No" and not feel bad about it. If a calling is extended that I have received personal revelation is going to impact my family in a negative way from a time perspective, I turn it down. I don't think that callings are always "inspired". I have seen first-hand that many callings are issued because they need a spot filled. This isn't always the case...but it has happened enough to me, personally, that I don't feel guilty about saying no.
As you may have picked up on in another thread I started....The whole idea of being relegated to a kingdom in the afterlife if you don't dot all of your i's and cross all of your t's where you are separated from your family is something that seems abhorrent to me from a God who is suppose to love us. And, it is that same God who gave us the parable of the Prodigal's son.
OK...I'm getting really tired, so I'll leave it at this for now. I'll try and post more tomorrow if you're interested. If everyone else is bored, we can take it to PM.
'Night!

As unofficial official Head Music Moderator I'm unilaterally going with "Foxy Lady". I specifically get a mental image of the scene in Wayne's World where Garth [I don't look like Garth] puts on Foxy Lady and dances up to the Dream Woman [Liz supposedly looks like Donna Dixon=Dream Woman, at least that's the rumor around the campfire. There are also unsubstantiated rumors about spurned lesbian lovers, but that's another in-joke] in Stan Mikita's Donut Shop. (The sad part---I knew it was Stan Mikita's Donut Shop from memory. I looked up Donna Dixon)

Pretty sure Queen did it.
