The earth is flat.
The earth is flat.
The earth is flat.
If it was round the church leaders would have told us differently.
The scientists are all of Satan... trying to decieve us.
We know the truth because it is written in the scriptures.
Those evil people who are trying to tell us the world is round are followers of Satan, trying to lead humankind astray, and they should be destroyed.

And since his claims are testable, you may see for yourself if his claims are correct. Afterall, I didn't make tham.Er, you didn't quote his claims. You offered your interpretation of what he said, making various claims along the way. I've asked you to provide references for what you wrote and claimed.
I did quote his claims. Let me give you a lesson in reading posts (or anything written in English). Notice what I have bolded....
Within the last few days on the Doug Wright radio program (SLC) the man in charge of monitoring Utah's snowpack level came on and pretty much debunked the environmentalist notions on global warming. Locally, the Utah snowpack has not changed much since the 1930's (earliest accurate data including photographs) and in fact over the last few years the snowpack has been melting an average of 3 to 5 days later than normal.
Worldwide, when it was seen that glaciers were beginning to melt faster than normal about a decade ago the primary suspect was 'the ring of fire' (volcanic activity and crustal warming related to plate tectonics). Turned out to be largely the case. El Nino was also mentioned. Apparently, while there is a modest increase in temperature, the human effect, if it exists, is not measurable.
He also mentioned the geologic fact that the earth is currently in an ice age and that most of the time, the earth doesn't even have ice caps (an indirect proof of evolution by the way).
And then there is the little embarrasment in the National Geogrphic news...Mars is warming too! Could it be because of the various human built space probes that orbit and have landed there? lol
Wish you could've heard it.
Everything between the bolded text was from the radio program. He did debunk global warming. It's up to you to decide whether or not he was successful.

Just to clarify what we're talking about, bcspace, would you consider the above claim "the environmentalist notions on global warming" that have been debunked, or is this closer to the "general scientific consensus" that debunked the environmentalist position?
I think the data in the links I provided go a long way towards debunking the notion that a majority of scientists agree that humans are the cause of the warming trend.

Wow, I agree.
As a Mormon, I wouldn't (D&C 58:26-28).
I agree again.
By the way, my desire isn't to have the government regulate how we treat the environment. I want people to do the right thing of their own free will. However, unlike you I do not believe that they will. Given that I believe that, do I think the government should step in? Actually, I don't think it can. If the government tried, then I think people would immediately vote those leaders out of office the moment they are inconvenienced by regulations. And if we could vote them into office, we'd probably be gooud enough to regulate ourselves in the first place.

It seems to me that global warming is occuring. I'm not sure if that is due to humans or due to other factors. In spite of the disaster and destruction in New Orleans, we're rebuilding once more, everything below sea level as usual. We'll build a higher dike, but it's only a matter of time before that one breaks. We can't even get people to live in a reasonable place. How are we going to get them to stop driving cars?
I haven't heard very many good ideas on what to do about it. I just don't see society putting a hault to driving cars, trucks, manufacturing, and basically living very primitively once again until we're absolutely have no choice. On top of that I don't see China or other underdeveloped nations ever doing it, so what good does it do if the U.S. submits to living in poverty? I guess it gives us maybe 50 more years of poverty that we wouldn't have had? No thank you.

And when the confederates saw Jackson standing fearless as a stone wall the army of Northern Virginia took courage and drove the federal army off their land.

Actually, it's more expensive to live environmentally correctly than it is to live the way we do now.
You are correct about the ridiculousness of rebuilding New Orleans below sea level. It's only a matter of time before we're throwing more billions of dollars at the next mess created because men don't want to understand nature and refuse to even try. It's foolish, yes... but so is most of what we do. And we'll keep rebuilding where we shouldn't have built in the first place, because no one has balls enough to tell people that if they build there, they do it on their own, that the government won't use tax money to rebuild. If the government played hard ball, people would take the money and build somewhere else, but the government is full of wimps and our tax money gets used stupidly once again.

We can't, but we can encourage them to drive less. I don't want to give up my car either. I just don't drive it work. Of course, it helps that work is only 5 miles away, but still. I think people could do better. Even if we only cut consumption by 10% it'd at least be a start in the right direction.

No, you paraphrased his claims. Quoting means you reproduce his words exactly as he said them. It usually involves quotation marks. You're not going to try and tell me he said 'lol' are you?
He did debunk global warming.
That's the claim I'm asking you to prove.
It's up to you to decide whether or not he was successful.
If he debunked it, then he was successful. It's up to you to prove that he debunked it, as you claim. Let's see the evidence please. Enough lazy research.

Both... there is not question about this.
It is not about going backward it is about creating new technology, new types of cars, new types of energy. It will certainly happen.
There are plenty of great ideas out there. Lots and lots of things coming on the horizon... The reality is, there are already plans for new forms of energy which will most certainly be used in the near future.
Again, it is not about going backward... it is about new ideas and inventions.
There is more to this world than our little corner and our species will most likely go on for millions of years (unless we blow ourselves up). Big changes don't happen overnight. They happen as the need arises, they happen as the old no longer works, they happen when we are suffering.
The wheel didn't catch on throughout the world for some time. Electricity didn't spread throughout the world overnight.
Things take time!

Unless the political climate (re: the political clout of companies like Exxon) changes, we will see more of the same, at a higher cost to the consumer and bigger dividends for the rich. Currently there is little incentive for innovation, and it's actively discouraged as a general rule. There is so much corruption in our political process, I don't know if the innovators will ever stand a chance.
