Ahhhh as if there is anyone alive who doesn't have ancestry from Africa! LOL!

Or maybe some still think Adam and Eve were placed here from another planet?

The whole thing is such nonsense!

God has to get over one issue at a time. He tried to rectify his racists problems with this thing in the 70's. He's still working on his misogyny and homophobia as we speak, but it's taking a back seat to his habitual warmongering.

I appreciate your humor, but we need to be clear that these failures to accept, embrace and love are from Man rather than God. Sometimes the timetables for Men can be slow, but they need encouragement rather than derision to do the right thing.

Regardless, of what the exer or postmos say, that revelation and how it was witnessed should close the books on church so called 'racism' before the lifting of the ban.

Of course the issue should not be put to rest.... not until the church clarifies that God had nothing to do with it.

So long as it is believed among church members that God was at the helm of racism the problem should not be put to rest! Not at all!

It may be behind the church in matter of practice but it is alive and well in terms of teaching.... ask anyone why the ban existed and you will realize that racism has not gone away!

Remembering that the ban is still alive and well regarding females.

Why people think that the ban is over because skin color is no longer an issue, knowing that the ban is still in place due to body parts baffles me.

The revelation and how it was given to SWK and written up by Leonard Arrington is actually quite faith promoting. The GA's had quite an experience when SWK prayed in the temple. I remember it now quite well, when the story was discussed among the saints. This revelation was not received without a celestial experience. How to explain it? Of course, I can like you take a secular explanation but secularism and god often do not mix or come together. The ban was lifted as a direct intervention from god. Unless of course, all the GA's lied about the experience. And if so, why do so? They have nothing to gain by lying.

Even though I view the ending of the ban as being 150 years overdue, it is still a cause for celebration. (by the way, he was misidentified in this clip as being the first black Priesthood holder - that distinction goes to Elijah Abel in March 1836).

Quite right you are, Moksha. In fact, the man in the clip was not even the second black priesthood holder, since Elijah Abel's children were clandestinely given the priesthood behind the membership's backs. Certainly, the Church's history of racism is very ugly indeed. When you couple this with institutionalized secrecy within the Church, you wind up with a recipe for disaster. One particularly interesting quote from a black man who was baptized into the Church prior to 1978 is this one, from a fellow named Edgar Whittingham:

Perhaps the only reason I am a member of the Church today is that I heard the Gospel before I had known of this particular curse. [i.e., the Curse of Cain.] I don't know whether I could have been objective enough or open-minded enough to have gone through with my study of the teachings of the Church if I had known of the Church position concerning Negroes and the Priesthood.
(source: Lund, The Church and the Negro)

In effect, he is saying that if Church representatives had been honest and up-front with him, he never would have joined.

Who is the false prophet?

Young or Kimball?

On several recorded occasions the Prophet Brigham Young stated that blacks would be the last of mankind to receive the priesthood. So basically, in terms of timetables, at the end of the earth.
You see some classes of the human family that are black, uncouth, un- comely, disagreeable and low in their habits, wild, and seemingly deprived of nearly all the blessings of the intelligence that is generally bestowed upon mankind.

The first man that committed the odious crime of killing one of his brethren will be cursed the longest of any one of the children of Adam. Cain slew his brother. Cain might have been killed, and that would have put a termination to that line of human beings. This was not to be, and the Lord put a mark upon him, which is the flat nose and black skin.

Trace mankind down to after the flood, and then another curse is pronounced upon the same race - that they should be the "servant of servants;" and they will be, until that curse is removed; and the Abolitionists cannot help it, nor in the least alter that decree.

How long is that race to endure the dreadful curse that is upon them? That curse will remain upon them, [p.291] and they never can hold the Priesthood or share in it until all the other descendants of Adam have received the promises and enjoyed the blessings of the Priesthood and the keys thereof. Until the last ones of the residue of Adam's children are brought up to that favorable position, the children of Cain cannot receive the first ordinances of the Priesthood.

They were the first that were cursed, and they will be the last from whom the curse will be removed. When the residue of the family of Adam come up and receive their blessings, then the curse will be removed from the seed of Cain, and they will receive blessings in like proportion. - JoD 7:290-291 (October 9, 1859)

Why are so many of the inhabitants of the earth cursed with a sin of blackness? It comes in consequence of their fathers rejecting the power of the Holy Priesthood, and the law of God. They will go down to death. And when all the rest of the children have received their blessings in the Holy Priesthood, then that curse will be removed from the seed of Cain, and they will then come up and possess the priesthood, and receive all the blessings which we now are entitled to. - JoD 11:272 (Dec 23, 1866)

Did the end of times occur in 1978 and I was just to busy throwing dirt clods at my neighbors to see it?

Either god changed his mind, or Spencer is a false prophet.

An important point to make to the deceived defending deceivers who will excuse statements like this from Young as his personal opinion is that back then the members looked to him as the mouthpiece of god just as the deceived masses see Flash Gordo today.

Further, the only statements from Young that have been relegated to the status of personal opinion are only those that place LDS Inc in a bad light within current social standards. Many of his other statements found in the same Journal of Discourses(JoD) and some in the same speeches are part of the curriculum and repeated more than the lord's prayer by Mormons today.

Mormons leaders are cherry pickers. The bucket of accepted Young principles continues to empty as time marches on.

Wouldn't they be the last already meaning that them being last is a true prophecy?

Pass the seer stone and hat please... WHAT?

Don't be so stupid Nehor.

Last I checked there are probably over 3 BILLION living men who have not received the Mormon priesthood.

Young's statements put the blacks behind them as well as all yet to be born non negro men.

Those 3 billion men are enjoying the blessings of the Priesthood. They can get it at any time and so far we've staved off the Apocalypse for them. You're welcome by the way :)

So now we can give it to everyone else.
