The suit claims after the victims came forward, Elder Neil A. Maxwell, a former member of the Church's Quorum of the Twelve Apostles who has since passed away, gave them a blessing and told them to "forgive and forget."
“When we are confronted with evidence that challenges our deeply held beliefs we are more likely to reframe the evidence than we are to alter our beliefs. We simply invent new reasons, new justifications, new explanations. Sometimes we ignore the evidence altogether.” (Mathew Syed 'Black Box Thinking')
Also, in the original investigation, the complaint says that when the mother reported to the police that they would likely find child porn and video at the Miles' house, the police called the Miles to set up an appointment to search their home, telling them what they were looking for.
The accusers are six, first, children from the known pedophiles first wife. They are joined in the suit by children of the second wife. Second wife says had church officials warned her of his pedophilia she would not have married him. But he was a member in good standing.
There is no question that the children were abused. That is established. What remains is whether Nelson's daughter and her husband were involved and if/how much the church covered up the abuse.

Well, this is quite an allegation, that's fo sho. Reminds me of the pedo couple from the movie Running Scared. And you do raise an interesting point. Like Ford's allegation, this is something that supposedly happened 30+ years ago. Why now? Why is this going to court right now? I am curious if this was filed after Ford's allegations went public. Like maybe they're trying to ride that momentum a bit?

I wasn't aware of what Res Ipsa was arguing in the other forum. Now that I know you were referring to him contradicting something he said in an entirely different forum, yes, I can now navigate the complexities and nuance of human social interaction.
(Certainly you can see that without knowledge of what he said elsewhere, your image seems entirely random.)

Um, through someone molesting children, I'm guessing?
"Finally, for your rather strange idea that miracles are somehow linked to the amount of gay sexual gratification that is taking place would require that primitive Christianity was launched by gay sex, would it not?"

The complaint was filed yesterday, just in time for conference weekend.

Well, nothing to be suspicious about there. This goes along with what I was also saying in Spirit Paradise about the Ford debacle working to discredit the exmo community, and movements like Denson and Sam Young. Sensational accusations that lack corroboration cast a huge shadow of doubt over legitimate testimonies. Look at how MG rejected PLDSC because some of the stories published seemed outlandish. I'm sure there are some fake stories on Sam's site, we can admit that. Now this. From the comments here it's sounding like these are very flimsy allegations. Obviously timed to ride Ford's momentum and hit the news cycle right before Conference. SMH.

Because 30 years ago it was covered up. There was a big media attack of those who stood on the side of the victims. They got scared and became more quiet while they continued believing the victims' reports.

Yes, this is a big problem.
And false memories cast a huge shadow of doubt over legitimate testimonies.
