Rosebud, how do you know he is earning $250,000 a year? Is this public knowledge that you can document?

I feel like I have repeated the following 1000 times and you have a long history of being very rude to me. But here it is again: I don’t come here to share documentation. This is just a message board. (Why would I do that? What would be my incentive to share it here?) Rather, I come here to create dated documentation.

The information isn’t public because John isn’t transparent and is late. That is the point.

I am being rude to you by asking you to document a public statement you are making about someone else's income?

You are violating the rules by posting in real life information. Even if dehlin is considered a public figure, you would still need to document your information with publicly available resources. And yes, this is just a message board. A message board with rules. If you need to make it your pity party playground, fine, but you still have to FOLLOW THE RULES.

I am in your camp on this one. I am not saying you’re not moving forward. I hope it didn’t come across like that, more like, I agreed w Exile that when relationships end moving forward is often good, but your situation is different. Your situation is about accountability from John.

I help non-profs and for profs brand. This includes organizations involved in activism. Mormon/open Stories would’ve died really quickly in a normal realm but in the Mormon realm this non profit is still thriving. I guess it thrives because of the strange Mormon culture. John skirts the line when it comes to his non-profit status in the same way the apologists that receive comp vacations skirt the line by not reporting.

John should’ve formed a for profit. Anyways, he gets a fresh crop of followers, as members leave the church and most of these members are okay with him earning this income and giving himself a secret raise or maybe using funds to pay for additional costs. They trust John, have you seen some of the safe sweaters and collared shirts he wears? He plays the role.

I was at a meetup two months ago and we laughed about his income, funds for whatever stuff he needs to do his job (god knows what that all goes to), and then still requesting first class flights and stuff like that...

The dude is a charlatan. Whatever. He will release the finances soon and very few will say a peep. If he’s smart he’ll place a billboard and interview a newly ex’d personality right around the same time as his finances. That should distract many.

It appears that Shades is not enforcing the rules, or perhaps I am missing something. Maybe he, like we, suspects that Rosebud is making stuff up.

I think it is pretty clear who the person with the problem is. It’s the one who regularly shows up with empty accusations, no evidence, and psychological priapism for John Dehlin.

As I was writing the above post quoting you, I was thinking about how to word it in hopes of not leaving the false impression that I was responding to you personally, but rather that I was writing to all the readers. I was aware, even as so pressed ‘submit, that I hadn’t fully reached my objective. But I decided to get myself a decaf mocha instead of revising. It was delicious. I also bought one of chocolate peanut butter cups they sell at Starbucks. My favorite. I apologize for any impression I left that I had made assumptions about you personally.

Anyhoo.... yes, what you say is what he’ll do. But he’s incorporated in Arizona and he’s siphoning tax-deductible donations to himself. That’s inurement. I predict that Arizona status will play a role in his eventual downfall.... but we’ll see how it all plays out.

Also, he announces in the last seven minutes of the link in the opening post that his new Thrive Business is an LLC. Thrive will pay the Open Stories Foundation a marketing fee for its use of the podcast feed (John’s most powerful asset.... owned by the 501(c)3). From where I sit, Thrive appears to be his safety plan considering the many circumstances.

It is remarkable to me how much energy we here have invested in worrying about the money GAs, apologists, and activists make, when the real crooks in our world mercilessly destroy lives by foreclosing on houses, poisoning our planet, denying healthcare to the sick, and refusing to make any positive contribution to the welfare of others. The latter are the real charlatans.
