I was watching Mormonism Live and I thought the name Kishkumen sounded so familiar. I haven't posted on this board in a long time. Thought I would stop by and mention that I still remember some of the posters of this fabulous message board. 🙂

Enjoyable. You should be a regular. Although, as a former missionary to Japan, I'm gonna have to come down on RFM's "side" 8-)
Fair enough on Japan. I wouldn’t know, of course. Thanks for your praise and encouragement. If I were invited to return, of course I would accept. ML is my favorite show, with BYP as a close second!

Had Dr. Nibley applied his considerable skills to Wind in the Willows, he could have found many Sumerian, Etruscan, and Egyptian parallels to Mr. Toad at Toad Hall and his helpful companions. He might also have inspired a young generation at BYU with beliefs based on Mr. Toad's repentant action.

It could even have assuaged Dr. Louis Midgley's pugilistic nature when Badger, Mole, Rat, and Toad recaptured Toad Hall from the weasels, ferrets, and stoats. It was a tale to get young Saintly hearts pumping, and with the detailed academic flourishes that Dr. Nibley would have furnished, its fame could have spread far and wide!
You’re killing me, Moksha! So much side-splitting hilarity!

Excellent, as expected. For the record, I could have gone six hours.

One of the last LDS missionaries I interacted with stated, “How does she know all this stuff [about Mormonism/the church]?” I don’t think he even realized he said it out loud. You guys are the reason she knows all this stuff.

I think I may be a mo-nerd.

Yes, Jason, you should start posting. I have 7 minutes left to watch.

Great show! I was unaware of the history of the use of the name Kishkumen, so I appreciate the helpful background.

Reverend, have you read Jan Shipps’ comments on John Brooke’s book and the academic responses? There’s a chapter in her Sojourner in the Promised Land. She mentions in a footnote that Brooke’s editor related that he received a letter from BYU scholars chiding (Shipps’ word) Cambridge University Press for publishing Refiner’s Fire.

Thanks for pointing this out! This book is on my list.
