How on earth could a person be banned from reading the posts?

Not only can banned members NOT read the pundits forum, but some also have their IPs "banned", so to speak, so they can't even view the regular board unless they use a proxy server.

This hasn't happened to me, but has happened to several people who post here.

I didn't mean to misrepresent you. Fro mwhat I understood, there was something that would have shown up over there around or before October. You mentioned other persons and other sites as involved as well, but I didn't know whether all of this took place over there or not. I apologize for misunderstanding.

You can comment as much as you want. wink. This is a different board now. Cross-posting calls will by made on a case by case basis. But we would prefer that links are not put up or if it is a clean thread that a warning be posted along with it so people know they are entering a sight that promotes vulgarity and obsenity. Nobody is expected to go to offensive message boards to defend themselves and posting here does seem to make our people a target. If they talk about you you can respond here as long as the bad content isn't brought over or linked to.

The Pundit forum is moving pretty slow right now anyway. You're not missing anything unless you're overly concerned about the Kirtland Egyptian Papers or some religious movement that has to do with apostates.

I agree that the situation is crazy. It appears that you aren't aware of some of the events that posters (including myself) have mentioned to you. I would only ask that you inspect the thread in question and notice how posters have avoided responding to David's OP. Note too, that according to the moderator comments you are a registered and active poster on a board that carries "vulgar" and "obscene" content.

What is your reaction to that? Does it bother you? If not, why not?

Most likely. I go there for stimulating conversation, not just for gossip. The board is run by people with normal emotions and accidents.

I would only ask that you inspect the thread in question and notice how posters have avoided responding to David's OP.

I think the thread was tongue-in-cheek. The idea was that people were implying that there was some kind of canonized idea about Qumran being a proto-Mormon community, or something like that. David is just as aware as everyone else that that is ridiculous. Several people played along, and others pointed out the Dead Sea Scrolls video that features a Dr. Pike sans-glasses, and Dr. Parry with quite a great deal more hair than he currently sports, in which they brought up that idea and shot it right back down.

Note too, that according to the moderator comments you are a registered and active poster on a board that carries "vulgar" and "obscene" content.

What is your reaction to that? Does it bother you? If not, why not?

It does not bother me at all. I'm not as sensitive as a lot of people. As a convert to the church I've been exposed to everything and my family still enjoys exposing me to vulgar stuff. I don't even notice it. I do, however, notice the dumbest arguments in the world coming out of the Terestrial Forum.

OK, I am back now. They are now having a disucussion about this on the MA& Board in that Discussion Thread there whether or not they are allow to Post links to other Message Boards, whether those other Message Boards are considered "anti" or not. Here are the Posts that are going on there:

I've noticed, also, that if I criticize someone's argument here I get criticized even heavier for being critical. "What gives?" On the MAD board, you posted that we are in a huff here. I pointed out that we aren't, but you say I'm jumping down your throat when I point that out? Who's the super sensitive one now? I didn't jump down your throat. If that counts as jumping down your throat, you might want to invest in an asbestos suit, because you're surely going to feel like you're constantly getting flamed, even when you aren't.

We comment often on the vagarities of the MAD folk. Some of us here are victims of the arbitrary nature of their moderating styles, and so when someone sees something off-the-wall, they bring the comments here, for those of us who are excommunicated from FAIR/MAD, and cast into the pit of fire and brimstone. Unfortunately for those who run MAD/FAIR, we who are thus cast out have created a nice little neighborhood here, where we chat, discuss, critique, and comment without the constant threat of expulsion looming o'er us, and so we do... chat, discuss, critique, and comment about many things, including MAD/FAIR and the LDS church.

#2. No one here cares what the rules of MAD are. We just think they're generally pretty stupid.

The rules. Many of us have friends who still post on MAD/FAIR, even though we have been judged, excommunicated and banished, more often than not, without justification or a fair trial.

#3. We have posters that report what's happening on the MAD/FAIR board simply because some of us have been banned from reading or posting at MAD/FAIR, so they bring us the news of what's happening there.

Do you doubt me? Do not. I am telling the truth. Several of us are not only excommunicated, we are banished. We cannot even view the MAD board. A few of us circumvent that, using proxy servers. Some of us refuse to do that. I am one of the banished, banned only because of who I am. If you don't know the story, perhaps someone will tell you. Or you can get a bit of it from reading Shades' blog.
