By the way, some of my best friends are Mormon. They would have called me on it, as you did. I should have said something a bit more qualified.

Repenting in sack cloth and ashes. Peace.

Thanks for taking it in the spirit it was intended.

I think we all indulge at times--I know I make way too many generalizations about liberals and democrats, which is just as unfair as lumping all Mormons together. I guess I'll have to get out the sackcloth and ashes and join you.

You guys are creating great visuals! LOL

MAD is not the church;

Indeed it is not. But someone else here has the opinion that FAIR/ FARMS controls the Church....lol

I'd venture to say that, if church leaders knew about it, they would be ashamed and embarrassed by the people who are supposedly defending the church (well, maybe Packer wouldn't be ashamed, but the others would be)

I don't think so. If that were true, certain statements of his would not be codified into LDS doctrinal works ;)

Which statements would that be?

Maybe we should meet at
Burning Man this year and perform the ritual there. What do you say, Alter Idem?

Sounds like a great idea. We'd have plenty of ashes...just have to bring our own sackcloth. Maybe we could get some of the other "offenders" on the board to join in and we can all do penance together.

Well, let's do it. But, I think we should probably open up the invitation to some of the "offenders" on that other board, too.

I just checked out the fellowship threads over there. Now, there are some generalizations if I have ever seen any that need some correcting. While I enjoyed reading your threads and a few of the others, someone needs to mention that we aren't all evil like your moderator wants to make it seem. That is really depressing to read some of those. What do you think?

Edited to add: It almost seems scripted, per the message of Beasties' most recent thread opener. No?

Heh, I've never visited the fellowship board before. There are some real gems there, from morningstar, who heavily trolled shade's board when it first opened with innumerable posts about boogers, complaining about the behavior of critics, to sput openly lying, once again, about my statements. Also the complaints about how critics "recycle" arguments that have been answered already. Gee, this is particularly ironic given how I just read Peterson's Book of Mormon evidence article in which he repeated claims that, in my opinion, critics have thoroughly debunked many times.

I have to wonder if, at least in some deep secret part of their brains, people like this realize what a bunch of hypocrites they are.

Also amusing, in a sad sort of way due to my respect for her, is cal telling people to just report offenders. As some of us here can testify, that only works if you're a believer. Just remember Animal Farm, where some are more equal than others.

OTOH, kudos to sargon (hope I remembered his name correctly) for his posts, and our own alter idem for their reasonable posts.
We hate to seem like we don’t trust every nut with a story, but there’s evidence we can point to, and dance while shouting taunting phrases.
