My nickname was just the acronym for a name I chose on another site years ago. "God Is My Refuge". I can't even tell you why I chose the screen name back then, though as the years have passed, it has become more and more true to me in my worldview. I'm no great person, there are no abbreviations (yet) behind my name. I take refuge from a lot in life, and most humans just don't provide good shelter.

I used to have my good ole friend Madea as an avatar, she was demonstrating how to play grit ball. But she scared Gaz, as she was essentially a man in woman's clothing. I must go find her again. She's far more interesting, and I think Gaz will be more used to her.

History of Current Alias: It isn't. An alias, that is. Yup, that's my real name. I registered it that way to cut some ammo out of the clips of the more aggressive FAIR-ites. That nonsense about "anonymous posting = hypocricy"

I also post as Darkslider. History of that alias is just that. History. I've been using the online alias of Darkslider since roughly '98 in multiple games, forums and other ventures.

Current Avatar: An artists rendition of a being encountered by several unconnected people while under the influence of the "God Drug" DMT. At least 12 people that I've spoken with (mostly via internet posts/emails) have all witnessed/encountered/spoken with this being while "tripping" on this particular substance.

Editing my inane post to read:

Most people on these boards know me as Lady Sundancer, LSD or Jersey Girl.

LSD is a take off on Lady Sundancer
Sundancer is the name of a boat
The shoes in my avatar are mine
And Jersey Girl?

Because I am.

What I want to know is why we've got like 13-14 "Gods" on this board and the only ones willing to jump to a custom name are me and Gaz. Where are the custom avatar titles Gods?

Okay, for you young'uns out there, this came out in, like, 1968 or so. I've never, ever in my life or ever will be this kind of girl (maybe in my next life?), but it's a great sounding song:

Lucretia MacEvil Lyrics
Artist(Band):Blood, Sweat & Tears Review The Song (0)
(David Clayton-Thomas)

Lucretia MacEvil
Little girl what's your game?
Hard luck and trouble
Bound to be your claim to fame
Tail-shakin' home-breakin' truckin' through town
Each and every country-mother's son, hangin' 'round
Drive a young man insane
Evil that's your name
Lucretia MacEvil
That's the thing you're doin' fine
Back seat Delilah
Got your six-foot jug o'wine, woman
I hear your mother was the talk of the sticks
Nothin' that your daddy wouldn't do for kicks
Never done a thing worth-while
Evil woman-child.
(spoken) ooh, Lucy, you just so damn bad
(Instrumental Interlude)
(Bridge) Devil got you lucy
Under lock and key
Ain't about to set you free
Sign sealed and witnessed
Since the day you were born
No use tryin' to fake him out
No use tryin' to make him out
Soon, he'll be takin' out his due
What-cha goin' to do?
Ooh, Lucy MacEvil
Honey, ya been all night?
Your hair's all messed up babe
And the clothes you're wearin'
Just don't fit ya right
Big Daddy Joe's, payin' your monthly rent
Tells his wife he can't imagine where the money went
Dressin' you up in style, evil woman-child
(spoken) Ooh, Lucy, you just so damn bad
(Instrumental Interlude)

(spoken) Awe, here she comes, trouble
Well Lucy, walkin' down main street, lookin'
Well, tell me 'bout it
Where ya' been girl?!
Stop lyin', stop lyin', stop lyin', Lucy!
Ooooh, tell the truth girl!
(Instrumental Interlude)

Mercury, a.k.a. Hermes of the Greek Pantheon:
Hermes, the herald of the Olympian gods, is the son of Zeus and the nymph Maia, daughter of Atlas and one of the Pleiades. Hermes is the god of shepherds, land travel, merchants, weights and measures, oratory, literature, athletics and thieves, and known for his cunning and shrewdness. Most importantly, he is the messenger of the gods. Besides that he was also a minor patron of poetry. He was worshiped throughout Greece -- especially in Arcadia -- and festivals in his honor were called Hermoea.

Mercury, of the Roman pantheon:
Mercury is god of trade and profit, merchants and travelers, but originally of the trade in corn. In later times he was equated with the Greek Hermes. He had a temple in Rome near the Circus Maximus on the Aventine Hill which dates back to 495 BCE. This temple was connected to some kind of trade fair. His main festival, the Mercuralia, was celebrated on May 15 and on this day the merchants sprinkled their heads and their merchandise with water from his well near the Porta Capena.

During the time of the Roman Empire the cult of Mercury was widely spread, especially among the Celtic and Germanic peoples. The Celts have their Gaulish Mercury, and the Germans identified him with their Wodan.

The attributes of Mercury are the caduceus (a staff with two intertwined snakes) and a purse (a symbol of his connection with commerce). He is portrayed similarly to Hermes: dressed in a wide cloak, wearing talaria (winged sandals) and petasus (winged hat).

Mercury is also known as Alipes ("with the winged feet").

Mercury, a.k.a. Quicksilver and Alchemy:

And crawling on the planet's face
Some insects called the human race
Lost in time
And lost in space...and meaning
