Re: Some thoughts...
So, Shades...in the threads in question you were apparently away from the board. At least that's what I remember grindael mentioning. You returned...looked at the threads in question...and read them MINUS grindael's deletion of his own posts.
I think that is unfair...to say the least. If that's what indeed did happen.
The question should be asked to grindael:
Why did you delete YOUR posts on YOUR thread?
Regards,
MG

probably because he is bored, bored, bored
.. of having your non-substantive, distracting and self-referential posts plastered over everything he posts.

What?...since we are now using large red font to accentuate what we're saying...
Why would he delete his own posts? You're not making any sense.
Hey, that's kind of fun using large font and coloring at the same time. I don't think I've ever done that before. It makes what we say more powerful, doesn't it?
I'm expecting grindael to answer this question, not you.
I think his answer is integral to the discussion.

That's actually a good question. I wish you would have jumped in and asked it at the time. Alas, it may be too late at this point. I think that could make for an interesting discussion.
Another thread?

If you want to start that thread, by all means do so. I guess my point in posting it was "why didn't you ask that question"? It was obvious that the was kind of the direction of your original post, although I personally think you stated it in an incredibly passive aggressive manner.
ETA: Apparently Lemmie is saying they asked you a similar question but got no response. Frankly I missed it because I didn't get back to this train wreck until well after the clean-up had begun.

Mockery.
This does say something about you and the way you see/treat those that place Joseph Smith in high regard. This may apply to others here also.

MG
Except I own it. I know I willingly mock Joseph Smith and his church. There's nothing wrong with doing so. Does that affect the way I treat those that place him in high regard? I think not. Because I respect people, not beliefs. I would never go to my mother and say such things. However, if my mother were to participate on a forum such as this, she would be open to ridicule and she would knowingly expose herself to criticism. She doesn't do that which protects her from open forum ridicule.
It's really not that hard to understand. You don't respect my beliefs. In some regards, your constant and/or approach to mopologetics is a mockery to my beliefs and logical thinking. However, I don't get all bent out of shape and assume your mockery of my beliefs is an attack on me, a person. That's called a difference of opinion.

It's the equivalent of taking his ball and going home.
Every time he tries to post something from his really rather interesting researches you turn up and plaster the thread with irrelevant and boring stuff, mainly, in the last analysis, about yourself.
So he decides he has had enough. That's a pity, because Grindael's researches are several orders of magnitude more interesting than anything you have contributed to this board.

Truly. And then MG says this about grindael's research, which, by the way, has been accepted for publication in a peer-reviewed journal, coming out spring 2017:
mentalgymnast to grindael, behaving like an ass, wrote:by the way, loser, we are already well aware that you don't believe in the Divine calling of Joseph Smith...so what's your point in preaching to the choir? You already know you're gonna just get high fives. So what's your point? Much ado about nothing, isn't it?
Not that the history isn't interesting in some respects.
That's it? It's just interesting? That's what drives you?

Who says stuff like that? Who mocks people's work like that? How can he possibly call someone a loser, mock their academic work by attempting to use 'interesting' as a slur, and then start his own thread about how he is a victim of bad behavior at this board? That is monumentally rude and sick.
MentalG keeps complaining how there used to be good discussions here--not only is he apparently missing the good discussions currently happening, but he seems determined to trash every discussion he enters.

The worst part is, in his initial comment he was one step away from actually encouraging discussion. If he had just phrased his comment as an actual question instead of the passive aggressive nit-pick that went with, something might have actually been discussed. I even found myself wanting to agree with idea (that perhaps we shouldn't hold positive testimony against Joseph Smith) but couldn't because of how it was presented.

Re: Some thoughts...
Hey guys, this is interesting and all, but I'd like to wait and see what Shades has to say in response to my questions/comments. He said he'd return and report. At this point I don't have much interest in the chatter surrounding the situation. Chap, I know you're trying to cover for grindael but I'm much more interested in what he has to say and how it may relate to Shades' actions.
