I wrote to them once and two responded, one with a very nice note and a copy of his book. So, I know letters do get to them.
"Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them." Psalm 139:16 ESV

Blah blah blah.

Regards,
MG
I blame you for his death. You SOB. Take your Book of Abraham and go straight to hell!

Shall I curse you, MG? Can you handle that? You have no idea. Apologize now or face my wrath!

The Book of Abraham is something MG may have to come to terms with in the future. It may just not be his time right now.

It's past his time.

All he has *is* now.

I agree with msnobody that the board leaves little room for faith of any kind sometimes. Not through explicit hostility to faith, but just an overall overwhelming atheist majority. I appreciate diversity of belief, including non-Mormon Christians here.

Oh I think Shulem is in a pretty peaceful place. He just tends to express his peacefulness in a very exuberant and lively manner!!!

I don’t think faith is the thing that people take issue with. It’s more the refusal to acknowledge facts as facts, or to explain what it is they have faith in. For example, I don’t think anyone would really take issue with someone having faith that there is life after death. But people would take issue with someone promoting the notion that NDE’s is evidence of life after death.

Another example, someone having faith that the Book of Mormon is 100% a translation of a record written ancient on plates, whilst blinding refusing to acknowledge that at least some of the content was plagiarised from the KJV Bible, is silly. It’s the lack of acknowledgement of a fact that’s the issue, not the expression of faith.

People take issue with MG’s posts because of his behaviour towards others, because of his pomposity, his passive aggressive belittling of any and all who do not agree with him, his undercurrent of sexist attitudes, and his inability to tell the truth, his point blank refusal to acknowledge when he’s in the wrong, his abhorrent hijacking of words and phrases to diminish other people, his blatant trolling, his attempted projection of his own poor behaviours onto others etc. Not his expressions of faith.
Premise 1. Eyewitness testimony is notoriously unreliable.
Premise 2. The best evidence for the Book of Mormon is eyewitness testimony.
Conclusion. Therefore, the best evidence for the Book of Mormon is notoriously unreliable.

Agreed.

If a person has faith in something that can't be proven wrong (life after death, a god that cares about you) I leave them to it and happily we get along fine though we can have some good/lively discussions about it.

What is silly about MG, and many religionists like him, is believing in something that has hard evidence against it. It's a manner of blissfully living with your head in the sand and then demanding (or expecting) a respect for their choice to live with their eyes purposely closed. They are the epitome of refusing to be led out of the cave; the fantasies on the wall are good enough for them.

How can you have respect for such willful ignorance?

I am not one to speculate on MG's reasons for posting here, but I want him to continue to visit and share his perspective.
Okay, but your next few lines appear to be you speculating on MG's reasons for posting here...
He may do it partly because he does not want the board to be utterly bereft of any bearers of an LDS testimony. He may do it to call us all to repentance. He may do it to prove that the LDS faithful can endure this kind of abuse on a regular basis.
Yeah, more or less. I should have said, "I am usually not eager to speculate," which is essentially what I meant. It is kind of like when people say, "I am not a gambling man," but then proceed to show that there is some inclination to do so anyway.
