Shulem is welcome to come up with his own theory as to the narrow neck of land. The thing is, thers, including Dr. F. Richard Hauck and other folks have competing theories. And their research allows for the internal narrative of real people and real civilizations as described in the Book of Mormon.

MG, this is what I see in the information of the link you provided in the wish that archeological evidence of the Book of Mormon is hidden down in Mesoamerica, somewhere, anywhere:

I think that a reasonable alternative to your concocted geography, that DOESN’T fit with the internal narrative of the Book of Mormon, should be taken seriously. And the link above takes into account the narrow neck issues that you’ve been dancing with in your Delmarva theory. I would think that as an honest investigator you’d at LEAST give this theory…or others…a shot. But no, I’d guess you wouldn’t. Your geography ‘proves’ the Book of Mormon to be fictional because the geography doesn’t in any way, shape, or form fit the internal narrative.

It Reminds me how apologists criticize the critics for not having read the Book of Mormon. Hypocrisy does seem to go around.

There is a big difference between MG and I. He's not read this thread and I've critically read the Book of Mormon more times than I have fingers and toes. I'm qualified to comment on the Book of Mormon. MG is not qualified to comment on this thread.

So, let's just ignore him and let him be ignorant.

The Delmarva Peninsula fits perfectly with the text of the Book of Mormon. It's the right orientation, the landmass is roughly the right size, and it is conveniently located to the Hill Cumorah. And it is easy to imagine how this geography found its way into the mind of Joseph Smith. Anything Smith said after publication of the Book of Mormon is completely irrelevant. The cat was out of the bag and he latched onto anything that embellished his fantasy.

I thought it appropriate at this point to quote some supporting scripture in the Book of Mormon to substantiate the distance of the WIDTH of the narrow neck being only a day's travel from coast to coast.

Therefore, Morianton put it into their hearts that they should flee to the land which was northward, which was covered with large bodies of water, and take possession of the land which was northward.

And behold, they would have carried this plan into effect, (which would have been a cause to have been lamented) but behold, Morianton being a man of much passion, therefore he was angry with one of his maid servants, and he fell upon her and beat her much.
