You are free to hate "The Boss" or his music all you like however, it's likely because you're not from Jersey and have no clue what the lyrics are about.

I didn't say I hated him, I said I can't stand him, which isn't the same thing, at least in the way I mean it (I do think his politics do indicate he's basically an airhead, but, so what else is new about the music business and Hollywood?).

I don't like his music and I think he's an utterly marginal musician, even though I know he's really had his heart in it for a long time and puts on a really good show. Even if I knew what the lyrics were bout I still wouldn't like his music.

Loran,

If you want to continue to harp on this, by all mean, start a new thread and we can debate the merits of Bruce Springsteen the man, his politics, his contributions to his community and his music. Hollywood has not a thing to do with Springsteen.

Hollywood does indeed. Hollywood and the music business are both populated overwhelmingly by people who share the same attitudes, socio-economic status, lifestyles, mores, and politics. They are almost almost monocultural in-groups socio-culturally, as is the mainstream media.

Which is precisely why the pop culture and entertainment media, as to thematic content, looks the way it does across a broad spectrum, from film and network TV to cable and satellite TV, to the music business and popular magazine publishing.

Way to derail the thread. If you want to talk about Springsteen, Hollywood, and the music industry, please do it elsewhere.

Yes, that's right....its a giant conspiracy to make everyone into homosexuals.

Damn queers, always popping up behind you when you least expect it.

Get your head out of the Gay bathhouse and back into the head shop where it belongs. Good grief, where did I mention anything about homosexuals? What a board. What a board.

And yet you have never, ever presented even one single shred of credible, authoritative evidence to support your redneck, "Deuling Banjos"-listening, pickup-truck-driving, hayseed, Unabomber-esque views. This is your M.O. you spend a lot of time kicking out invective, get tired of it, start posting civilly again, get your butt kicked, and then return to more invective. Perhaps you should consider scheduling an appointment with Dr. Wade, who knows all about vicious cycles.

What, you mean Sesame Street? The O'Reilly Factor? Trinity Broadcasting Network? The BYU Channel? FOX News? CNN? HGTV? The Food Network? It seems you are being very selective in the way you define "pop culture and entertainment media," Loran.

This was a reference to the first post. Mormons also use the term endowment, so this was sort of a pun. Pee Wee Herman was a character played by actor Paul Reubens, who made the mistake of unveiling his endowment in public. I don't mind explaining even weak and dated jokes in the hope that if I ask the young readers to explain what seems to me to be obscure music references, they will do so for us codgers.

The sad part. Not only do I know who the Pee Wee Herman character is, I made a Pee Wee joke just the other day on this board. I must be turning into an old codger or something (Yet I only feel 21. hmm.)

I was watching VH 1's Pop up Video the other day, and it said that Cindy Lauper is the one who did the theme song for his show, and is uncredited for it.

I wanted to get the season one box set for my kids and my wife said no way. Oh well.
