The discussion on that board which has already been named is very entertaining. Some of the male defenders are using the apologetic tricks of obfuscation, pretzelization, and strawmen arguments on Juliann. Can't wait for Provoman to lecture her on being an uppity woman. Let the ad hominems begin!

After reading Dog's "Divorce" thread, I was not surprised to see him supporting the SP's stance. That very stance might work in his favor soon.

Disgraceful. Emotional affairs are real, they are family-destroying, and they ought to be treated as the sin that they are.

The Stake President did not apologize for his ecclesiastical abuse, nor did he rescind his abuse-driven retribution of yanking her Temple Recommend and deeming her an apostate, all for annoying him by talking about hurting from her divorce.

An email sent to Tiercy Hadlock by her Stake President, Russell Clayton, on June 21, 2017. The email is an apology for how he handled previous interactions between the two.

Which is why the blog writer says,
Surely some think his apology should be the closure that makes it all go away. But it isn’t much of an apology. He doesn’t apologize for priesthood abuse, for bullying her, for placing the needs of the organization ahead of her needs as an individual. He sounds as if his aim is to resolve the problem at the point at which it intersects with his life as a leader and not at its root–her life. His apology for “not understanding her feelings” ignores her legitimate complaint of ecclesiastical overreach. And that’s the crux of the matter for me: a woman’s legitimate grievances are too often de-legitimized as emotional and non-rational muckraking. https://outsidethebookofmormonbelt.com/ ... cal-abuse/

Systemically, there's no way for men to be accountable to women in the church. So in the course of normal, human vicissitudes of life, the church can make so many things worse. The man who is trying to preserve the church has specific church-preserving powers designed to keep the church together, wives with their husbands and husbands at church. The hammer turns everything into a nail, and when the hammer accidentally hits a finger, it's not the church's fault, but that man's weakness giving into the "natural man," when in fact he's likely a pretty decent guy who would never have intervened in the first place if he didn't believe in hammering nails and that he was the divinely appointed hammer.
