He's still stereotyping in exactly the same manner 18 years later. Telling people who believe differently than him what's wrong with their character hasn't evolved either, even though just yesterday he feigned an apology to black Moclips, saying it was 'off the cuff'.

'Off the cuff' doesn't cut it when it's been mentalgymnast's go-to trolling bigotry for decades.

I saw that, and understand the frustration. What’s harder for me to understand is why he would keep coming back year after year and perform essentially the same way.

Frankly, it’s hard for me to follow along with any discussion with him because it’s almost always the same, and that view reflects a mere 3-4 months of exchanging with him.

I’m surprised sometimes when people respond to him, myself included, because it’s such a waste of time.

When I first started researching internet trolling, the common advice was "ignore the troll." However, as I delved deeper into academic studies of online behavior, a different take on the issue emerged. Ignoring trolls doesn't stop the trolling, which still can disrupt a community. Calmly acknowledging the trolling behavior without engaging the troll emotionally or directly is a more useful long-term strategy in terms of preserving community cohesiveness and camaraderie. It doesn't stop the trolling, but it seems to render toothless the strategies of stereotyping, bigotry, and malicious rule-breaking. In other words, laugh at the trolling, and then carry on.

Your adjunct work seems to have experimentally reached a similar conclusion, and I am pleased to inform you that permission to move forward with your research at Cassius has been granted. Requisite funds are at Dr. Scratch's discretion.

Actually, I think there’s been a misunderstanding, or maybe we are talking past each other. I never said I was or was’t using any tools at all, and certainly not the kind of simplistic “AI shortcut” you’re implying.

And even if I had used something like that (which isn’t what I did), it wouldn’t automatically mean my argument is invalid. The real issue isn’t whether some assistance was involved, but whether the substance of what I said engages the topic meaningfully. If we can focus on that instead of getting hung up on labels like “BS,” I’m happy to continue the conversation in good faith. Or we can just table it.

Mentalgymnast's pattern of stereotyping and disparagement has been the same for decades. Today's excuse of "Oops, sorry, I'm just human" doesn't cut it. A multiple decade's long pattern of extremely consistent, disparaging and stereotypical trolling techniques has to have come from something else.
