Most people I come into contact with don't even know what the Mormon Church is.
How deflating. To have God's authority and most people don't even know you exist?
How arrogant and ignorant. The Mormon Church is but one of hundreds and hundreds of churches which each have their own dogma and doctrines. That you do not appear to know that is demonstration of ignorance.
JAK
You must have missed the irony that was dripping from both of our comments, JAK. Perhaps your own ignorance is showing? No, that can't be, so Liz and I must be the ignorant ones.
Since I live in the Bible belt, and work with a lot of Evangelical Christians, I can tell you that they are hardly salivating. Most people I come into contact with don't even know what the Mormon Church is.
I tend to agree with liz here. The evangelicals could probably outnumber the "active" Mormon church with just the megachurchs in Texas. Never mind the rest of the south, or the country for that matter.
Bond
Aside from self-deluded true believers who believe that the universe revolves around Salt Lake City and a clutch of evangelicals who see it as their life's calling to save wayward Mormons, the world's interest in the Mormon Church is best measured by units of "micro-give-a-s****."
For example, in Texas, interest in the Mormon Church equals approximagely .01 micro-give-a-s****, compared to, say, India where it equals somewhere around .0001 micro-give-a-s****.
I think your conversions are just a tad bit off. I've compilied the anecdotal evidence and completely fabricated statistics for each state/country I've lived in.
I have found after 10 years of living in Utah, that this state itself only rates Mormonism with 0.09 micro-give-a-s****.
Michigan? Don't make me laugh. 0.0002 MGAS
Oregon: 0.0003 MGAS
California: AHAHHAHAHAHA! This was shocking because of the number of members in the state, but CA only rated a 0.000004 MGAS
Italy: one-eighth of one-third of a sixteenth of a MGAS
