You're a legend in your own mind Scratch. If you think you whipped me, fine. But what actually happens each time you attempt a really serious dialog with me is (as with the first time I met you in a homosexuality thread), is that as soon as your taken past standard, tried and true leftist platitudes and formatted special interest group talking points, you began the inevitable slide toward irrationalism and ad hominem smears instead of sticking with a point by point argument in a serious philosophical manner, and I think you've got a long, long way to go before you'll ever be able to engage in that kind of discourse.

I don't recall engaging in ad hominem attacks at all, Loran. Perhaps you could provide an example? My recollection of that thread is that you produced lengthy articles from a Catholic think tank which painted homosexuality as a sin, and a cause of all sorts of social ills, which you then tried to link up to the ban on same-sex marriage, or same-sex parenting. If you'd like to raise the issue again, I'd be glad to engage you on it. Be my guest. If you're ready for another butt-kicking, that is. ; )

Hi Coggins,

If you haven't guessed already, Mr. Scratch suffers from a severe case of both "Black Knight" syndrome and "Don Quixote" disorder--having perhaps contracted both from Kevin Graham. As such, nothing you say or present by way of evidence (irrefutable or otherwise) will have the least impact, and will simply reinforce his imagined self impression.

The only thing I have found that works (at least for my part), is to simply ignore his vacuous braggadocia, delusional self-aggrandizements, and imaginary claims to being the king of the hill. and having tilted whatever windmills dare to challenge him.

Of course, though, he will invariably misinterpret the silence as another personal victory. But, I see no real harm in that (except perhaps to him). I am fine with him taking his little flights of fancy. After all, it is not as though I am here for one-up-manship or intellectual competition. Rather, I am, as I suspect you are too, secure with myself, and thus I lack the need that Scratch appears to have of continually trying to convince others that he is as great and magnificent as he thinks he is.

Hopefully, one of these days he will figure out that few people if anybody (certainly not people like Dr. Peterson who he attaches considerable importance to) will buy what he is selling, and will start looking for functional ways to satisfy his real need for mutual love, value, and respect. If, or when, that day comes, I hope to be there to offer him a viable option.

Thanks Wade. I realize that I slide into polemics far too often myself relative to my what I'm actually capable of doing and relative to my ideals regarding appropriate debate, as to both substance of manners. I find it difficult on this board, as I did at ZLMB, to maintain a serious demeanor.

Its also the case that for someone whos personal mentors as to comedy and satire are Groucho Marx, Monty Python, Don Rickles, Robert McKimson, and Chuck Jones, its doubly difficult to maintain both a straight face and a civil tongue in this forum.

But the worthy struggle oontinues...

Excellent question. The only logical grouping I would be comfortable with would be Vegas, Polygamy Porter, Nortinski and Infymus. Oh, and perhaps Pokatator with the tuber family.
