Can I ask a question?

Would this board be successful, would it be as active as it is, if every time a TBM posted, the mods banned them?

My beef with Juliann is her treatment of me, even going so far as to try to declare me a white anti-mormon, once I refused to be brainwashed by her blacklds.org propaganda. The woman took a squat and a dump on my character...and it was ok over there. I left wounded. I wasn't the only one.

Would this board be a place where every so often people could laugh and have fun, if one particular group were run out the way they are over at bedlam?

I did...I challenged him (the statement he made about me), and Julia** banned me immediately.

TBM's aren't banned but some are treated so atrociously it can be a pain to stay. To my knowledge I've offended people 3 times on this board and have tried to apologize in all of them but I have had my intellect and my life insulted dozens if not hundreds of times. Admittedly most of this is done by only a few posters.

Okay...there are a few (and I do mean a few) people here who intentionally set out to annoy and harass TBMs here. But most people here are not like that. I have jumped on PP personally for the way he acts, but at the same time, there are TBMs here who are just as vitrolic and nasty. Cog is one who comes to mind, and I would not care if they stripped, tarred, and feathered the fool, he is just cruel...not to mention deranged.

Like I said in another post, you cannot win with people who associate their sense of self with their religion, and who feel their religion to be the most true and correct on earth. You can't win. And I'm not censoring myself with them.

I believe in Christ, but who the hell am I to censor the atheists and agnostics on this board? Who am I? I'm not offended by them, or by anything they say. But I'm also not so enmeshed in religion.

Many TBMs feel that the world should function according to their mandates. Well, they're a minority, and have to deal with that. And when you go around making statements about things like the curse of Cain, and when you go around trying to tell people how lost they are, don't expect them to go, "Oh! I once was blind, but now I see!".

TBMs insult the intelligence of those around them who are not TBM when they expect folks to just fall in line because they believe in the doctrines of the LDS church. Respecting faith is one thing, adhering and falling in step because there's a Mormon present is completely another.

My statement was mainly about the woman known to those who like her as Juliann Reynolds. DCP is not the issue here, nor is your worship of him. Please do not use my statements to work up more froth around your mouth.

What if I told you that I cannot take you seriously unless you stopped associating with your black heritage? Now pause, and do some thinking. Mormonism is both cultural and spiritual. The problem with you is that you think your association is valid, but theirs isn't.

Back on topic, Nightingale, what do you think this board should do to make itself more "pretty and inviting" for MADites?

It's often been said that those who do not come here do not do so because it's not protected. Why do they need protection? From what? Is this board too indicative of the real world? Do we need censorship here? Are the multiple forums not enough? Are there unsavory people here? What about the embarassments that are the TBMs (or confusions, in the form of Ray A?)?

What would you have this board do? I thought Shades did an awesome job of setting up this board so that anyone could come here and feel comfortable...

I don't associate myself with black heritage. I learn from it, but it does not define me. I'm grateful for what my ancesstors have done for me, but I don't live in the world they did. I don't live in the world of color that folks like you and Cog would love to say I do. I don't look at the world from that POV, I only did when I was forced to as an LDS, reading about cursed skins of darkness.
