Why not just delete them?

My stop-gap proposal:

As people have noted SP has its own unique culture which gets out of hand. Terrestrial self-regulates pretty well so why weigh it down with mods?
A one-size solution for the two forums isn't desirable.

At the same time, we shouldn't let the worst elements of SP infect Terrestrial. I propose that for the interim, Shades allow me to delete any Atlanticmike post in Terrestrial forum that uses crude language or is a direct personal attack. And at my discretion if that's too much work, block his posting in other forums aside from SP entirely.

For the last, "block his posting in other forums aside from SP entirely," if you end up going that route, could you make Spirit Prison/Telestial be the only place he can post freely? That would be more in keeping with the rules, which are at least theoretically the same for Terrestrial and Spirit Paradise. If I recall correctly, that was Dr. Shades' solution for ldsfaqs' problems in Spirit Paradise.

in my opinion, once moderation resumes, everyone should be given the same chance to conform their behavior to the rules. Queuing has been used only in those cases where someone continues to violate rules after repeated admonitions by Shades or a moderator. There have been no such repeated admonitions that I'm aware of.

NO, Atlanticmike, posts like that will NOT be allowed to remain in the Spirit Paradise forum. YES, Atlanticmike, posts like that WILL be moderated, most likely by moving them to the Spirit Prison forum.

I don't see resuming moderation as a one size fits all solution. Terrestrial has a culture of conforming to the rules as written, so I doubt that people who post there would notice the change.

Moving posts/threads rather than deletion is the way the board allows folks to have their say. Deletion is used in only a few cases that cannot be fixed by moving the thread: doxxing, posting the content of PMs, attacks on family members, etc.

It is probably wise to not have much invested in this board when some innocent comment can draw such nasty daggers and I suspect that can happen to anyone here.

Yes, anyone can be disagreed with. Not taking personally the disagreement one receives about a concept is good advice. That kind of disagreement is not, in my opinion, what is under discussion here.

What I mean by this is do you see one forum (say the dining room) and another forum (say the kitchen) as two separate rooms in the same house? Or do you see them as two completely separate houses?

It might even be like two separate tables in the same house, like at Christmas, where quieter adult conversation can occur at one table, and a more raucous event can be happening at the ‘kids’ table, complete with toys, spilled drinks and half-eaten cookies.
