true, but understand he's "baiting his hook" to get that reaction. He's on purpose trying to sound as absolutely cold and uncaring as possible. But this is just venting, and he's not really that uncaring. Notice he told his life story again about growing up as a neglected child. Obviously, there's a major blindspot here in his demand that folks feel pity for his hardships. The heavens sent an angel to comfort him while he pisses on everyone else's tragedies and God and eternity roll forth with no time to notice. Oh, but God notices when numero uno gets his feelings hurt; the heavens open and violins and angels descend!
Illogical as it may be, at the same time, when it's understood this is a coping mechanism, then it can be forgiven. It's therapeutic to turn his nose up at the suffering of others -- give them back what he felt! Or at least, let us get mad that he doesn't care about others in the same way he felt hurt and nobody rescued him. At the end of the day, he does care about others, and that's a hard burden to bear when others didn't care about him. Expect him to buck that burden now and again.
