Now I and Mike Marquardt just submitted an article to the John Whitmer Historical Association on Baptism for the Dead, which they accepted and will be published in their Spring, 2017 Journal. Here is what the editor said:

As you can see in the attached summary of reviewers' comments, the paper was favorably regarded and will be accepted for the Spring 2017 issue of the Journal.

Congratulations on an excellent manuscript, and I look forward to receiving a mild revision in the near future.

Some of what the reviewer said,

The writing is lucid, logical, consistent, and clean, and the notes are particularly easy to understand. ... this paper is impressively objective in its treatment of the sources it chooses to address.

I add my congratulations to that of others. I do disagree, however, in respect to the issue or two that I brought up in his original posting. But that's water under the bridge at this juncture. But that's not to denegrate the amount of work he put into is research and publication.

Shades - this person mentalgymnast is making normal discussion on this board well-nigh impossible with his constant flow of distracting, irrelevant and frankly narcissistic posting.

A major effect of this is that grindael, who has carried out and shared a huge amount of valuable historical research about Joseph Smith, is on the edge of considering pulling out of activity on this board because he can't take the passive-aggressive trolling any more.

Some time ago, you put a Hungarian poster on a special status for a while, largely, if I understand it, because his comments were thought to be rather over-centered on Hungary-linked topics. I think he had to wait in a queue for approval, or something.

Please could you consider doing something like that to mentalgymnast? Obviously posts that contain substantive argument or facts relevant to thread topics should be let through. But stuff that is mainly about himself and how other posters are mean to him, how he is misunderstood and so on and so forth should be sent off to Spirit Prison forthwith.

This is a thread I started. It's my OP. If you don't want to participate in this thread or any other I participate in...don't. Take a hike to another thread. You don't see me denigrating you repeatedly. In regards to the recent thread you are referring to...what in the he** is "narcissistic" about my participation in that thread? Evidence in particulars? Narcissistic. You guys are running out of labels so you're going to go with this one.

Shades, I have a concern that I need to address. When I read Chap's posts I am consistently seeing a picture/vision in my head of a large green frog with blue eyes. I believe that this is going to result in warts at some point. He scares me. I'm concerned that others here may end up with a similar issue. Isn't there something that could be done? If he continues posting I'm afraid that some of the active, believing posters who have something to say are going to be run off the board through his actions on various thread to intimidate, etc. And...get warts.

Please consider doing something about this. I'm worried about the health and well being of others on this board who may be seeing visions of green frogs with blue eyes. It's not a pretty site.

by the way, I'm still looking forward to your comments in regards to some questions/issues/comments I made at the beginning of this thread. I'm concerned about what transpired.

The topic is, however, yourself. You do not seem to have anything to say of any substance, so far as I can see. And you certainly show precious few signs of shutting up and clearing off. Quite the reverse.

It's convenient that you post the way you do, mental, on a board where you define yourself as the minority. That way, when people call you on your behavior, you can always excuse yourself by announcing, repeatedly, what a victim and martyr you are.

Ironically, people's objections to your behavior tonight had not a single thing to do with the religion you practice, yet, true to form, you wrapped up your involvement with a speech about how EVERYONE ELSE BUT YOU IS AT FAULT FOR HOW YOUR POSTS WERE PERCEIVED.

It's a pretty cowardly and shallow way to never take responsibility for your own words, but you seem to have perfected it. One would think that you would post on a Mormon board, but I have a feeling that deep down, you know what you are, and you can't face having people call you out for your crap when you don't have a fake outer excuse to fall back on.
