Those familiar with the questionable rhetorical tactics of Bill "Don't Call Me Jacob" Hamblin won't be surpised about this. Over on the ironically named FAIRboard, he has "outed" CKSalmon, as it were, posting his in real life identity directly on the board! Doesn't he know that this is a significant breach of online etiquette? Would he like it if someone posted his home address on RfM?

In any case, the mods intervened by deleting the name in the post, but it just goes to show how low the Good Professor is willing to stoop.

I can't believe he really did that!

I'm sorry, but that should be a bannable offense if anything is! I know it won't be, but that's terrible. That's crossing the line of getting involved in someone's "real" life as opposed to their "internet" life.

What thread did this happen in?

The thread is called something like "CKSalmon and The Evangel," and was on pg. 2 last I checked. (It has become increasingly difficult for me to view the FAIRboards. I have been using proxies, but it seems that the FAIRmods are systematically blocking them.)

Will Shryver claimed in his follow-up post that CKSalmon is open about his in real life identity, but I don't see how that excuses Prof. Hamblin's presumptuousness and utter disregard for etiquette in this instance.

FAIR is rather slow loading with their new layout. Got a link to this thread. I looked briefly and did not come across it.

The same thing happened here. Shades deleted it, then the poster (who is totally anonymous and who I still don't know who it was) put the name back up, until Shades deleted it a second time and explained the breach of etiquette. I have my suspicions as to who it was, though. This kind of invasion of privacy is totally unacceptable and should be punished to the extreme.

What you have posted above is yet another example of the pervasive lack of integrity on FAIR. The mod stepped in to correct the violation....and let's the information stand in another post. Par for the course, folks.

When I saw that posting of what should be confidential, I shook my head in displeasure. You would think a professor at BTU would be more considerate. My concern is with how CK Salmon is taking this. Does anyone recall how FAIR reacted when then names of the Mods where released in as not as public of manner? Did they not have some vituperative feelings about it?

I think you're correct when you say that a professor at BYU would be more considerate. What it "sounds" like is willful indiscretion. Perhaps there is a measure of desperation involved. Many of us who post on boards like this know eachother in some form or fashion off the boards. There are posters here on MDB who know my name, location, etc...as I do theirs. It would never cross our minds to post identification that has not been offered publicly. It seems to me that when people behave that way, they feel threatened. As if the only way to make the other person "go away" would be to issue and implied threat of some sort. In this case, the implied threat might be "I know something about you and if you don't reign yourself in...I'm going to tell all". Essentially....gossip mongering.

I remember not so long ago when challenging Juliann on some issue (can't remember what it was exactly) that she seemed to take great pleasure in characterizing the previous MDB as carrying soft porn and mentioning that I posted there, and that this was "your board". It was a form of ad hominem I suppose. Juliann must think in a vacuum. But we know that....

Unlike you, Professor Hamblin doesn't make scurrilous false accusations. Unlike you, Professor Hamblin doesn't protect his claims by putting them in a "blog" and then deleting inconveniently factual replies.

Unlike you, Professor Hamblin doesn't play up to the paranoid delusions of a gang of haters by using such loaded (and false) characterisations as "orwellian" and "interrogation."

Unlike you, Professor Hamblin doesn't posture in self-righteous indignation at someone else doing the very same thing he himself did.

You know what I'm talking about, don't you?
