Plutarch Wants to Debate McCue or Bachman
Plutarch Wants to Debate McCue or Bachman
On any topic relating to the Latter-day Saint experience. Two ground rules.
(1) I do not wish to have to defend Christianity at the same time. For example, I think it a complete waste of time to have to defend miracles in general.
(2) Each post has to be limited to an agreed-upon number of words; otherwise, the post can be ignored.
Party on.

I thought Tal was vacuous and unanswerable and of questionable ethics.

Maybe Bob should learn to write in Reformed Egyptian ;)
That's General Leo. He could be my friend if he weren't my enemy.

You thought right, except let me point out that being "of questionable ethics" does not mean "immoral." I just need to know what ethical standard guides him.

Why? I have no idea what ethical standards guides you or the other apologists, and yet here I am talking to you.

The Bible, the Book of Mormon, the D&C and the Pearl of Great Price, in case that wasn't clear.
For those of you who condemn what Joseph Smith has done in advancing the cause of the Lord, I'd like to know where I can read the ethical standards which guide your definition of wrongness. What is "wrong" if you believe that anything goes?
Plutarch, who once said that you're better off saying nothing about a God you doubt than condemning Him.

Hey Plutarch
Did you see my offer on that other thread? I said you sounded like a good sport and volunteered to send you "Mormon Enigma" as a present, if you emailed me your address. My offer still stands.
One thing is, on that other thread, you came on finally and said, "you win". I thought that was a concession that you indeed had a misapprehension of 19th century American culture. If it was a concession, then didn't we already have a debate, and one that...well...that ended already? And if that wasn't a concession, what was it?
Final thing: By your own account, you find much of what I say incomprehensible. Why then would you want to debate me? What about Runtu or Dr. Shades or someone?
Let me know what your answers are...
T.

The entire driving manual for the Hummer could be reduced to a pictograph of a hyena with a bundle of c-notes and a steering wheel. Such brevity!
Cry Heaven and let loose the Penguins of Peace
Tal:
None of your questions are pertinent and merely deflect my challenge. Will you accept my challenge with my two little conditions, or not? [Don't be fearful; jump in. I'm no heavyweight. Most of the posters on this Board think I am a moron.]
You can even pick any three posters on this forum to moderate and vote on the winner. You can even pick the first topic, although I would hope that you would pick one that is generally discussed among anti-Mormons rather than a history of the Church in Canada, for example.
As far as Mormon Enigma is concerned, I have no interest in obtaining a copy of a book I already have.
I have done that far too often when I can't find a book in my library and the time to own multiple copies of the same book has to come to an end.

For what it's worth, I don't think you're a moron. If you want to donate some free books, I'll take them off your hands anytime.
